Job Overview:

Our client is seeking an experienced and well-connected Head of Research & Development (R&D) to lead their innovation efforts in automotive interior materials. The ideal candidate will have strong relationships with key automotive companies, especially Maruti Suzuki (Engineering), and a proven track record of driving product development projects. This leadership role requires expertise in material science, design innovation, and cross-functional collaboration to enhance our product portfolio.

Key Responsibilities:

- Strategic Leadership: Lead the R&D function, driving innovation and new product development for automotive interior materials, including leatherette.

- Industry Networking: Leverage strong connections within the automotive industry (especially Maruti Suzuki) to identify trends, requirements, and collaboration opportunities.

- Project Management: Oversee research, design, and development projects, ensuring timely execution and alignment with industry standards.

- Team Leadership: Manage and mentor a team of designers, and engineers, fostering a culture of innovation and excellence.

- Material Innovation: Develop advanced materials that enhance aesthetics, durability, and sustainability in automotive interiors.

- Customer Collaboration: Work closely with automotive OEMs and Tier-1 suppliers to co-develop solutions tailored to their needs.

- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all products meet global automotive standards, safety regulations, and environmental requirements.

- Technology Integration: Stay updated on emerging technologies, such as sustainable materials, smart surfaces, and advanced coatings, and integrate them into product development.

- Market Analysis: Conduct competitive benchmarking and analyze market trends to maintain a competitive edge.

Qualifications & Experience:

- Master's degree in Material Science, Chemical Engineering, Polymer Technology, or a related field.

- 10+ years of experience in R&D, preferably in the automotive interiors or materials industry.

- Strong networking and relationship-building skills with key automotive players, especially Maruti Suzuki Engineering.

- Proven track record of leading R&D projects from concept to commercialization.

- Deep understanding of automotive materials, surface finishes, and interior design trends.

- Experience working with automotive OEMs and Tier-1 suppliers.

- Knowledge of global automotive regulations, sustainability trends, and material testing standards.

- Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
