We are seeking a Senior R&D Expert with extensive experience in Engineering/Product Development to support our organization's R&D efforts, particularly in Low Power Energy Integration, Battery Optimization, and Engineering Design & Architecture. The ideal candidate will have 15+ years of experience in engineering and managerial roles within R&D environments, with specific expertise in consumer electronics wearables and embedded systems. This expert will play a key role in digitizing and optimizing product development processes, especially for battery-driven devices such as smartwatches, wireless earphones, and other handheld devices.
The role will involve collaboration with various stakeholders, driving key decisions regarding hardware testing tools and battery performance optimization. The ideal candidate will have direct experience in the consumer electronics industry, specifically with leading brands like boAT, Noise, Xiaomi, Samsung, JBL, and Logitech, as well as expertise in R&D for embedded products from organizations like Cognizant, Wipro, and Tata Elxsi.
Key Responsibilities:
- Strategic R&D Oversight: Provide insights on current trends in R&D and digitization within the organization, especially around low power energy integration, battery optimization, and embedded systems for consumer electronics.
- Product Development Expertise: Guide the development and engineering design of battery-driven products such as wearables, Bluetooth earphones, and other consumer electronics devices, ensuring alignment with industry best practices.
- Battery Performance & Optimization: Lead initiatives focused on battery optimization, ensuring that product design is energy-efficient, reliable, and capable of sustaining long battery life in consumer electronics products.
- Hardware Testing Tools Expertise: Advise on the selection, purchase, and use of hardware testing tools for battery performance measurement and optimization, working with internal teams to assess and acquire the right tools based on organizational needs.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with engineering, product development, and R&D teams to provide subject matter expertise in battery optimization, hardware testing, and embedded product design.
- Vendor Interaction & Decision Making: Involve yourself in purchase processes, stakeholder discussions, and approval cycles for hardware tools related to battery testing. This includes understanding the purchase decision-making process both internally and externally, including HQ involvement (such as for companies like Logitech, Xiaomi, and others in the space).
- Leadership: Manage and mentor team members, ensuring efficient processes in product development and battery performance testing, and fostering innovation in low power energy integration and embedded systems.
Key Requirements:
- Experience: At least 15 years of experience in Engineering or Product Development, with a significant portion of that in R&D roles in consumer electronics, embedded systems, or low-power electronics.
- Industry Expertise: Direct knowledge and experience with consumer electronics wearables (e.g., smartwatches, wireless earphones) and battery-driven devices. Experience with Logitech, boAT, Noise, Xiaomi, Samsung, JBL, or similar companies is highly preferred.
Technical Expertise:
- Strong knowledge of battery performance measurement and optimization techniques for small electronics.
- Familiarity with hardware testing tools and how they are selected, purchased, and utilized in R&D.
- Experience with embedded product development and low power energy integration.
- Leadership: Proven experience in managing teams and cross-functional collaboration across engineering, product, and R&D departments.
- Decision-Making: Familiarity with organizational decision-making processes regarding hardware tool procurement, especially in terms of battery testing tools.
- Software & Tools: Proficiency in R&D tools, including those specific to battery optimization and embedded systems development.
- Location Flexibility: Willing to engage in global interactions, especially with HQ teams (for example, in Switzerland).
Desirable Skills & Qualifications:
- Educational Background: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- Global R&D Exposure: Experience working with international teams and navigating cross-border decision-making processes.
- Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with trends and innovations in wearables, Bluetooth technology, and battery technologies in consumer electronics.
- Vendor & Stakeholder Management: Ability to manage vendor relationships, particularly in selecting and purchasing hardware tools.
Application Process:
To apply, candidates must demonstrate their ability to address key areas of expertise through responses to the following questions:
What are the key sectors and themes for Logitech in the embedded engineering space, particularly regarding battery-driven developer tools and measurement products?
Can you describe the team structure by sector/function in your current organization and the decision-making process related to the purchase of hardware tools for battery performance measurement and optimization?
What is your understanding of the purchase process, stakeholders, and approval processes involved in the purchase of hardware testing tools mentioned above?
To what extent is HQ (Switzerland) involved in the decision-making process for hardware tool purchases related to battery testing?
