We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Database Architect to join our team.
The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in managing various databases, both SQL and NoSQL, and will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining the database systems that support our business applications and services.
Additionally, the candidate must have strong expertise in Azure cloud services and PostgreSQL.
Key Responsibilities :
Database Design and Architecture :
- Design and implement database solutions that meet business requirements and industry best practices.
- Develop and maintain data models, including conceptual, logical, and physical models.
- Ensure the scalability, security, performance, and reliability of database systems.
Database Administration :
- Install, configure, and maintain SQL and NoSQL databases, with a strong emphasis on PostgreSQL.
- Perform regular database maintenance tasks, such as backups, indexing, and tuning.
- Monitor and optimize database performance, including query optimization and storage management.
- Ensure high availability and disaster recovery capabilities of database systems.
Azure Cloud Services :
- Design, implement, and manage databases in Azure, including Azure SQL Database and PostgreSQL on Azure.
- Utilize Azure services such as Azure Data Factory, Azure Data Lake, and Azure Cosmos DB.
- Implement and manage Azure-specific features like security, scalability, and monitoring for database systems.
Data Integration and Migration :
- Develop and manage data integration processes, including ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) operations.
- Plan and execute data migrations and data transformations between different database platforms, including cloud migrations to Azure.
Security and Compliance :
- Implement and maintain database security measures, including user access controls and encryption.
- Ensure databases comply with relevant regulations and standards, such as GDPR and HIPAA.
- Conduct regular security audits and vulnerability assessments.
Collaboration and Leadership :
- Work closely with development teams to design and implement database schemas and queries.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior database administrators and developers.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into database solutions.
Documentation and Reporting :
- Maintain comprehensive documentation of database designs, configurations, and procedures.
- Generate and analyze database performance reports and metrics.
- Communicate database status, issues, and solutions to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Required Qualifications :
- 8+ years of experience in database management and administration.
- Proven experience with both SQL (e.g, PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQL Server) and NoSQL (e.g, MongoDB, Neo4J, Hazel cast) databases.
- Strong expertise in PostgreSQL database management and optimization.
- Extensive experience with Azure cloud services, including Azure SQL Database and PostgreSQL on Azure.
- Strong understanding of data modelling principles and best practices.
- Proficiency in database design tools and query optimization techniques.
- Experience with database backup and recovery, high availability, and disaster recovery solutions.
- Knowledge of database security practices and regulatory compliance requirements.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex database issues.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
Preferred Qualifications :
- Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Certification in database technologies (e.g, Oracle DBA, Microsoft SQL Server, MongoDB).
- Experience with cloud-based database solutions eg: Azure PostgreSQL, MySQL.
- Experience with Change Data Capture Implementations.
- Knowledge of big data technologies and frameworks (e.g, Hadoop, Spark).
- Familiarity with DevOps practices and tools (e.g, CI/CD, Terraform, Ansible)
