Database Architect - Oracle DB (8-10 yrs)

Job Summary :

Avanciers is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Oracle Database Architect to join our team. This critical role will focus on modernizing our client's database infrastructure, driving improvements in performance, observability, resilience, and architecture.

The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in Oracle database administration, high availability solutions, data replication, and data warehousing, with a proven track record of designing and implementing robust and scalable database solutions.

This role involves both strategic architectural planning and hands-on implementation.

Responsibilities :

Database Modernization : Lead the modernization efforts of the client's Oracle database environment, focusing on :

1. Improved Observability and Performance : Implement monitoring and performance tuning strategies to proactively identify and resolve performance bottlenecks, ensuring optimal database performance.

2. Enhanced Resilience and Replication : Design and implement high availability and disaster recovery solutions, including Data Guard and GoldenGate, to minimize downtime and ensure business continuity.

3. Architecture Optimization : Evaluate and redesign the existing database architecture to improve scalability, performance, and maintainability.

4. OLTP to DW/Hadoop Data Movement : Design and implement efficient data movement solutions for both one-time and continuous data streams from OLTP systems to Data Warehouse/Hadoop environments.

- Database Administration : Perform core DBA tasks, including :

1. Installation, configuration, and maintenance of Oracle databases.

2. Database security management and access control.

3. Backup and recovery planning and implementation.

4. Performance monitoring and tuning.

5. Schema management and object creation.

Architecture and Design :

- Develop and document database architectures that meet business requirements and adhere to best practices.

- Design and implement data replication strategies using Data Guard and GoldenGate.

- Design and implement data warehousing solutions, including ETL processes.

- Optimize database partitioning strategies for performance and scalability.

Collaboration and Communication :

- Work closely with development teams, business analysts, and other stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into technical solutions.

- Communicate effectively with technical and non-technical audiences.

- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to other team members.

Required Skills and Experience :

- Extensive experience (typically 8+ years) as an Oracle Database Administrator, with a focus on architecture and design.

- Deep understanding of Oracle database architecture, including physical and logical structures.

- Proven expertise in performance tuning and optimization, including SQL tuning and instance tuning.

- Strong experience with high availability and disaster recovery solutions, specifically Data Guard and GoldenGate.

- Hands-on experience with data warehousing concepts and ETL processes.

- Proficiency in database partitioning and other performance optimization techniques.

- Experience with data integration and replication tools.

- Experience with moving data from OLTP systems to Data Warehouse/Hadoop environments.

- Strong SQL skills.

- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.

- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Skills (Optional) :

- Experience with Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI).

- Knowledge of other database technologies (i.e. MySQL, PostgreSQL).

- Experience with scripting languages (i.e. Python, shell scripting).

- Familiarity with Agile methodologies
