Medical Transcriber

Key Responsibilities:

• Listen to recorded dictations from doctors and medical professionals.
• Accurately transcribe and format medical documents, including patient histories, diagnostic reports, operative notes, and discharge summaries.
• Ensure adherence to established transcription and formatting guidelines.
• Identify inconsistencies or errors in the recordings and clarify with healthcare providers when needed.
• Maintain patient confidentiality as per HIPAA or other applicable regulations.
• Meet deadlines for submission of completed reports.

Qualifications:

• Proven experience as a Medical Transcriptionist (preferred but not mandatory for entry-level roles).
• Proficiency in medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology.
• Excellent listening and typing skills with attention to detail.
• Ability to work with transcription software and electronic medical record (EMR) systems.
• Familiarity with healthcare compliance standards, including HIPAA.
• Strong command of the English language (written and verbal).
• High-speed typing skills (minimum 50-60 words per minute preferred).

Preferred Qualifications:

• Certification in medical transcription (CMT/RMT) is a plus.
• Experience with voice recognition software like Dragon or similar tools.
