Endoscopy Technician

Role & responsibilities

• Assisting with Endoscopic Procedures:
  
• Assist physicians and nurses during endoscopic procedures (such as colonoscopies, gastroscopies, and bronchoscopy) by providing necessary instruments and tools.
• Position the patient appropriately and assist with any positioning or sedation as directed by medical professionals.
• Operate and maintain endoscopic equipment and ensure proper function during the procedure.
• Preparation and Maintenance of Equipment:
  
• Prepare endoscopy equipment and supplies before each procedure.
• Sterilize and disinfect all endoscopic tools and instruments after use according to hospital protocols.
• Conduct routine checks on the equipment for safety and functionality, performing troubleshooting or coordinating repairs as needed.
• Patient Care and Comfort:
  
• Prepare patients for the procedure by explaining the process, assisting with changing into gowns, and establishing IV access when necessary.
• Monitor the patient during the procedure and provide assistance to ensure their comfort.
• Assist in the recovery process by observing the patient post-procedure and preparing them for discharge.
• Record Keeping:
  
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, including procedure details, equipment used, and any complications or observations.
• Assist with the documentation of procedures for billing and compliance purposes.
• Inventory Management:
  
• Ensure that endoscopic supplies and equipment are well-stocked and order additional supplies as needed.
• Maintain inventory records and keep track of the usage of equipment.
• Adherence to Health and Safety Protocols:
  
• Follow infection control protocols, safety procedures, and regulations during the handling of endoscopic instruments.
• Maintain a clean and sterile environment in the procedure room at all times.
• Collaboration with Healthcare Team:
  
• Work closely with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure smooth operation during endoscopic procedures.
• Provide support and assist in preparing patients for follow-up visits or additional procedures as needed.
