General Manager

Key Responsibilities:

1. Operational Management:

• Supervise day-to-day operations of the function hall, ensuring that all events, meetings, and gatherings run smoothly.
• Oversee venue setup, including seating arrangements, decoration, lighting, and audio-visual equipment.
• Ensure the venue is clean, well-maintained, and up to code with safety standards.

2. Staff Management:

• Recruit, train, and manage a team of event coordinators, waitstaff, cleaners, security personnel, and technical staff.
• Schedule staff according to event needs and monitor performance to ensure a high level of service.
• Provide leadership and resolve staff issues or conflicts, ensuring a positive and productive work environment.

3. Client and Vendor Relations:

• Act as the main point of contact for clients, ensuring all their needs are met before, during, and after events.
• Work with event planners to tailor services according to the clients preferences.
• Build and maintain relationships with suppliers and vendors for catering, equipment, and other event-related services.

4. Event Coordination:

• Oversee the logistical details of events, including coordinating event timelines, ensuring catering, audio visual services, and any other client requests are met.
• Manage multiple events at once, addressing any issues or last-minute changes that arise.

5. Financial Management:

• Develop and manage budgets for events and daily operations.
• Monitor costs and revenue to ensure the venue is profitable.
• Approve invoices, handle billing for events, and ensure accurate financial reporting.

6. Sales and Marketing:

• Drive business development through promotional activities, creating marketing strategies to attract new clients.
• Work closely with the sales team to increase bookings, create pricing strategies, and manage customer outreach.
• Negotiate contracts with clients to maximize revenue while ensuring high client satisfaction.

7. Compliance and Safety:

• Ensure the venue complies with local laws, health and safety regulations, and industry standards.
• Maintain safety protocols, including emergency procedures, fire safety, and crowd control.
• Monitor event activities to ensure that all safety standards are met.

8. Problem-Solving:

• Handle any issues or emergencies that arise during events, whether related to client dissatisfaction, technical difficulties, or staff concerns.
• Provide quick resolutions to problems to minimize disruptions to events.

9. Reporting:

• Provide regular updates and reports to senior management about venue performance, financial status, and staff concerns.
• Track event success metrics and work on continual improvement strategies.

Qualifications & Skills:

• Proven experience in managing operations, preferably in hospitality, event management, or a related field.
• Strong leadership and people management skills, with the ability to motivate and guide a team.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Financial acumen to handle budgeting, invoicing, and cost management.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure.
• Ability to multitask and manage time efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
• Experience with event planning software or booking systems is a plus.
• A background in hospitality, business administration, or a related field is typically required.

Work Environment:

• The GM of Operations typically works in a fast-paced, high-energy environment, especially during event days.
• The role often involves working evenings, weekends, and public holidays, depending on the schedule of events.
