Job Description: A medical bill manages the payment process between a healthcare provider and a patient.They create invoices, submit claims, and collect payments. They also ensure that patient information is accurate and up to date. 

Responsibilities

• Create invoices: Create invoices for patients for any remaining balance after insurance 
• Submit claims: Submit claims to insurance companies using medical procedure codes 
• Follow up on claims: Follow up on unpaid claims and denied claims 
• Communicate with insurance companies: Communicate with insurance companies to track payments and confirm coverage 
• Investigate claims: Investigate denied claims and outstanding patient invoices 
• Manage payments: Collect payments from patients and set up payment plans 
• Maintain patient information: Update patient information in the provider's system 
• Maintain electronic health records: Maintain electronic health records (EHR) and billing software 
• Track billing metrics: Track, review, and report on billing metrics, trends, and periodic audits.

Skills and qualifications 

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Knowledge of insurance guidelines, coding practices, and medical terminology
• Proficiency with computer systems, software, and calculators
• Ability to multitask and manage time effectively
• Problem-solving and organizational abilities
