- Strategic and tactical responsibility for implementing Quality strategy and strategic operational goals to exceed customer expectations for product quality, cost and delivery, optimising production quality levels and supporting operational excellence. Work closely with internal and external key stakeholders, manufacturing and customers regarding technical support of their activities.
- Responsible for all areas of the Quality function and provide support within Operations. Lead and develop the Quality Management system, striving for best in class products and business practices to deliver to the customer's expectations, managing teams and projects across the business. Ensure Health, Safety and Environmental issues are prioritised and facilitate Lean Business and drive Continuous Improvement across all quality related areas of the business in line with the strategy.
Role & responsibilities:
1. Quality Strategy & Leadership:
- Develop and implement the organization's overall quality management strategy.
- Establish quality objectives aligned with the business goals and ensure adherence to international quality standards (ISO, EN, IEC, ASTM)
- Lead and mentor the quality team, providing strategic direction and oversight to ensure consistent quality performance across all production units.
2. Integrated Management System (IMS):
- Oversee the implementation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of the IMS.
- Ensure compliance with relevant certifications such as ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001or industry-specific standards.
- Conduct regular audits of manufacturing processes and suppliers to ensure adherence to quality standards and procedures.
3. Continuous Improvement & Lean Manufacturing:
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives using WCM, lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, and latest quality tools to enhance operational efficiency and reduce waste.
- Implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) to address non-conformances and reduce defect rates.
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement and empower the team to identify and solve quality-related issues.
4. Supplier Quality Management:
- Establish and maintain relationships with key suppliers to ensure they meet quality requirements.
- Conduct supplier audits and assessments, and implement improvement plans
- Manage the quality of incoming materials and ensure alignment with production requirements.
5. Product & Process Quality Control:
- Oversee in-process and final product inspections to ensure products meet specifications and customer requirements.
- Develop and implement statistical process control (SPC) tools to monitor production quality.
- Lead root cause analysis for quality issues and implement corrective actions to prevent reoccurrence.
6. Regulatory Compliance & Certifications:
- Ensure compliance with all relevant international and local regulatory requirements.
- Manage and maintain certifications and compliance audits ISO, WCM and GMP.
- CE Marking (EN 12150-2)
- FPC (Factory Production Control)
- BIS Certification
- ISO 50001(Energy Management System)
- ISO 14040 (Life Cycle Assessment) and
- ESG (Environment, Social & Governance)
7. Training & Development:
- Develop and implement quality training programs for employees to enhance their technical skills and understanding of quality processes.
- Lead cross-functional teams to foster a strong quality culture across the organization.
- Support the team in implementing global best practices and process improvements.
8. Customer Satisfaction:
- Work closely with customer service and sales teams to address customer complaints related to product quality.
- Conduct failure analysis and root cause investigations on customer returns and implement corrective actions.
- Ensure that customer feedback is incorporated into product and process improvements.
9. Reporting & Analysis:
- Provide regular reports to senior management on key quality metrics such as defect rates, customer complaints, audit findings, and cost of poor quality (COPQ).
- Analyse quality data to identify trends and develop strategies to reduce defects and improve overall quality.
- Participate in regular management reviews and provide insights into quality-related risks and opportunities.
Key Skills and Competencies:
- Strong knowledge of quality methodologies (Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, SPC).
- Expertise in root cause analysis, CAPA, and risk management.
- Excellent leadership and team management skills with the ability to motivate and develop a diverse workforce.
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment.
- Familiarity with quality software (e.g., QMS software, SPC tools, ERP systems).
- A Certified Quality Manager (CQM), Six Sigma Master Black Belt, or similar certifications.
