Overman (Coal Mines)

*Roles & Responsibilities / Duties to be Performed:

1. Must have good knowledge in CMR 2017, Mine Rules 1955, Mines Act 1952, circulars and
other amendments at regular intervals.

2. Must have experience in men and machinery management.

3. Good knowledge in deployment of machinery as per the targets.

4. Having knowledge in safety features of all the HEMM.

5. Knowledge in different mining activities.

6. Knowledge in statutory records updating is an added advantage.

7. Maintain all the safety requirements of men and machinery and working places.

8. Knowledge in Safety talks, tool box talks, SOP and COP is required.

9. He shall ensure that:-

(a) Sides of benches are kept properly dressed;

(b) Stability of benches is not endangered;

(c) Haul roads are kept maintained;

(d) Stability of overburden dumps is not endangered;

(e) There is no over-crowding of men and machinery at the working faces;

(f) Adequate lighting is provided at the area under his control; and

(g) Adequate precautions as laid down in these regulations are taken before blasting operations
is conducted;

(h) All machinery and plant are operated in safe and secured manner. All the machinery are
engaged with all the safety norms as per the Statutory requirements.

(i) Dust control measures to be taken.

10. At the end of his shift, record in a bound paged book kept for the purpose a general report in
the specified format on the performance of all his duties during the shift, including anything
concerning the proper working of the mine and the safety and discipline of persons employed
in his district.
