Public Relations Mid Manager role

As the Public Relations at IAMAI, you, under the guidance of the Public Relations Head, will play a crucial role in promoting the association as a leading industry body, and events and conferences organised by IAMAI and public policy statements in the national news media (Print, Digital and TV), as well as on social media. This role requires a deep understanding of how the news media and social media platforms function. One of the key abilities of this position will be to build contact among journalists working in beats associated with sectors relevant to IAMAI (primarily, but not limited to, Business, and Technology).

• Roles and responsibilities:

You will be expected to carry out tasks that are assigned to you from time to time by the Reporting Manager at the association. However, your primary responsibilities are detailed below:

• To build professional contact and close relationship with senior print, digital and TV journalists, relevant to IAMAI, based in Mumbai and Delhi.
• Advise PR Lead on possible creation of news stories spun around IAMAI’s successes, achievements, policy statements and events and conferences that may be placed in the news media.
• Plan, implement, and evaluate social media campaigns from ideation to execution, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
• Assist the Public Relations in on-ground execution of news media coverage of all events and conferences organised by IAMAI, in collaboration of PR Agencies as may be hired by IAMAI.
• Organise one-on-one off the record de-briefing meetings of IAMAI Sr. Vice President, and other senior IAMAI staff as required, with top-level Mumbai based journalists, relevant to IAMI’s news media outreach.
• Assist IAMAI PR Lead to edit and produce clean copy for all IAMAI’s reports and bulletins.

Qualification and experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in mass communication, Public Relations, Economics or any relevant social science.
• 3 to 5 years’ experience as a journalist in a reputed English newspaper or digital news portal.
• Some experience in handling social media campaigns, with a solid understanding of digital industry trends and best practices.
• Ability to work under tight deadlines and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Technical skills

• Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office
• Ability to draft Press Releases, Articles in English at short notice
• Hand-on experience in English copy editing.
• Up to date with the latest trends in social media.
