Job Description
BI Developers need business acumen and strategic insight to understand the business context in which data exists. They also need database management skills to ensure that databases are running efficiently, data is secure, and backups are in place.
- Translating business requirements : Turning business needs into technical specifications to build BI solutions
- Creating and maintaining data models : Designing and deploying reporting tools and creating data models to store data for reporting
- Analyzing data : Conducting data analysis and collaborating with engineers, analysts, and business stakeholders to understand their data requirements
- Developing visualizations : Creating visual documents/wireframes to help present data, such as graphs and charts
- Troubleshooting : Troubleshooting data discrepancies, BI tool support, and developing solutions to alleviate support issues
- Improving systems : Improving existing BI systems and ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of data-driven insights and reporting
- Collaborating : Collaborating with teams to integrate systems and with business analysts and other developers to curate data
- Documenting BI designs : Document data models, workflows, metric calculations, and best practices.
