Your role in the Team

The Data Services team is at the heart of the companys data management strategy, responsible for designing, building, and maintaining the database infrastructures that power all critical applications and business operations. As data continues to drive strategic decision-making across the organization, the team ensures that the underlying database platforms are scalable, secure, and highly available, supporting both transactional and analytical workloads.

In an era where data is one of the company s most valuable assets, the Data Services team plays a vital role in enabling the organization to unlock its full potential. Whether it s through real-time access to operational data, high-performance transaction processing, or supporting advanced analytics and machine learning workloads, this team ensures that the business can move faster, make better decisions, and respond dynamically to customer needs and market changes.

The Senior Database Engineer role is critical to this mission. This individual will take a leading role in shaping the database environment, optimizing performance, and ensuring the reliability and security of our databases in on-prem and cloud. The Senior Database Engineer will work closely with cross-functional teams, including DevOps, software engineering, and data engineering, to deliver solutions that drive innovation, operational efficiency, and data-driven insights across the organization.

What you ll do

• Design, Implement, and Maintain Database Architectures: Develop and optimize scalable, secure, and high-performance database systems to support complex business applications, ensuring seamless data access and integrity.

• Optimize Database Performance: Proactively monitor database performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement tuning strategies (query optimization, indexing, partitioning) to ensure maximum system uptime and responsiveness.

• Lead Database Automation and Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Develop automated processes and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) to streamline database deployments, management, and scaling, fostering operational efficiency.

• Ensure Data Security and Compliance: Implement and maintain robust security practices to safeguard sensitive data, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements (GDPR, HIPAA, etc.).

• Collaborate on Cross-Functional Projects: Work closely with software engineers, data architects, and DevOps teams to deliver data-driven solutions, enabling application development, real-time analytics, and seamless integrations.

• Disaster Recovery and High Availability: Architect and implement solutions for database backup, recovery, and high availability (HA), ensuring business continuity through effective disaster recovery planning and failover mechanisms.

What you ll need for this role

• 8-10 years of experience in managing and optimizing databases across Oracle (must), Postgres, Redis, MongoDB and cloud platforms (AWS, GCP) for performance, scalability, and availability.

• Lead database migrations from on-prem to cloud, ensuring minimal downtime and data integrity.

• Develop and implement disaster recovery strategies, including Oracle RMAN, Postgres backups, and Redis persistence.

• Optimize database performance with query tuning, hardware/resource utilization, and diagnostics across Oracle, Postgres, and Redis.

• Ensure database security and compliance, using encryption (TDE), access controls, and data governance best practices.

• Automate database deployments and management using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) for both cloud and on-prem environments.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (DevOps, data engineering, and Platforms) to deliver robust database solutions.

• Proficient in replication technologies like Oracle GoldenGate, Kafka CDC, Postgres replication, and Redis replication for high availability.
