L1 Engineer - VPN Solutions (2-4 yrs)

Key Responsibilities :

VPN Implementation & Management :

- Implement, configure, and manage VPN solutions using tools like Accops, F5 VPN, Swift, and Netskope ZTNA.

- Commission and integrate VPN solutions with management and authentication/authorization tools such as email systems, Active Directory (AD), Identity Access Management (IAM), and SIEM platforms.

- Develop and enforce access and security policies for VPN solutions.

- Perform day-to-day operations, including BAU (Business As Usual) MACDs (Moves, Adds, Changes, and Deletes) and configuration updates.

Troubleshooting & Incident Management :

- Troubleshoot network issues across layers 1, 2, and 3 of the OSI model, including transport, session, presentation, and application layers.

- Perform packet captures, analyze traffic, and resolve issues using advanced troubleshooting tools.

- Support incident monitoring, analysis, and response initiatives.

- Coordinate with users to resolve trouble tickets promptly and efficiently.

- Conduct immediate troubleshooting during network outages, as reported by users, sensors, or operational personnel.

Security & Compliance :

- Apply security patches to VPN devices as required and conduct periodic performance checks, audits, and compliance assessments.

- Automate processes using scripting and SOAR (Security Orchestration, Automation, and Response) tools.

- Maintain oversight of network security infrastructure and ensure compliance with organizational policies, standards, and procedures.

Monitoring & Maintenance :

- Proactively monitor VPN infrastructure using network monitoring tools to isolate and address events before service degradation occurs.

- Perform daily performance checks, backups of device configurations as per agreed schedules, and capacity management.

- Manage device lifecycle, including incident, problem, service request, change management, and configuration management.

Collaboration & Support :

- Coordinate with OEMs for TAC (Technical Assistance Center) support, RMA (Return Merchandise Authorization), device replacements, and reconfigurations.

- Collaborate with cross-functional teams for service level management and VPN infrastructure administration.

Required Qualifications & Skills :

Experience & Knowledge :

- 2 to 4 years of experience in network security, with a minimum of 1 year managing VPN solutions.

- Strong hands-on expertise in VPN tools such as Accops, F5 VPN, Swift, and Netskope ZTNA solutions.

- Proficiency in Windows, Linux, and Unix environments.

Technical Skills :

- Familiarity with authentication protocols like AD, IAM, and integration with SIEM platforms.

- Knowledge of network security principles, including policy management and exception handling.

- Experience in scripting and process automation using SOAR tools.

- Proficiency with packet capture, traffic analysis, and troubleshooting tools.

- Strong understanding of network protocols such as TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and routing.

Soft Skills :

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to articulate technical concepts clearly.

- Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.

- Ability to work independently and in a team-oriented environment, especially under pressure.

Certifications :

- Product certifications in Accops, F5 VPN, Swift, or Netskope ZTNA are highly desirable.

- Additional certifications like CCNA or CompTIA Network+ are a plus
