Position Summary:
We are seeking a highly experienced AVP to lead our initiative of overseeing sunset of legacy applications
The Application Decommissioning Manager will oversee and lead efforts to decommission and retire legacy applications across the organization. This role is critical in ensuring the successful transition from legacy systems to newer technologies, minimizing operational disruptions.
The manager will work closely with cross-functional teams, including IT, Operations, Sales, Compliance, and relevant vendors to manage the complete lifecycle of application decommissioning.
The ideal candidate will have around 15 years of experience and a proven track record in a similar role preferable growth path starting from a technical role
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Planning:
- Develop and execute a comprehensive strategy for decommissioning legacy and outdated applications.
- Work with senior leadership to identify and prioritize applications to be decommissioned.
- Create and manage detailed decommissioning project plans, including timelines, milestones, and resource allocation.
- Ensure alignment of decommissioning strategies with business goals, regulatory compliance, and industry best practices.
- Engage with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to execute decommissioning efforts.
Project Management & Execution:
- Lead multiple decommissioning projects from initiation to closure, ensuring they are completed on time, within scope, and on budget.
- Develop and maintain project schedules, providing regular updates to stakeholders and management on progress, risks, and issues.
- Identify and manage risks related to the decommissioning process and mitigate potential business disruptions.
- Collaborate with technical teams to assess, plan, and execute the decommissioning of applications, including server infrastructure, databases, and integrations.
- Coordinate with business units to ensure that necessary data migrations, system integrations, or process changes are accounted for and addressed.
Stakeholder Management and Communications:
- Serve as the primary point of contact for all stakeholders regarding application decommissioning efforts.
- Regularly communicate the status of decommissioning projects to key stakeholders, including business units, IT teams, and external delivery partner teams.
- Facilitate meetings, workshops, and presentations to gather feedback, identify dependencies, and resolve challenges related to application decommissioning.
- Ensure all relevant stakeholders are aware of and understand the impact of decommissioning efforts on their operations and systems.
Compliance & Risk Management:
- Work closely with Infosec & Risk teams to ensure that decommissioned applications are fully removed from the environment without compromising organizational security.
- Coordinate with relevance business teams to ensure proper data handling, archiving, and deletion procedures are followed as per Regulatory guidelines.
Core Qualifications:
- Strong experience in digital transformation and technical architecture.
- Extensive experience in migration to cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud.
- Exposure to data migration as part of application migration
- Strong leadership and project management skills.
- Ability to engage with and influence stakeholders across organizational spectrum
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
