Manager - System Accountants

Role & responsibilities

The role holder will have accountability and some responsibility for their teams initial adoption of work and then business as usual performance in the following areas:[AT1]

Financial management:

• Provides direction and operational leadership for all System Accountant processes including expertise and analysis of the movements between various modules of finance systems (process flows and subledger and general ledger) and MDM (data concerning clients, suppliers and candidates)
• End to end system knowledge and experience in upgrade/implementation lifecycle
• Creation of complex SQLs, queries and reports within the system to enable data analysis and preparation of various reports
• Prepares and reviews detailed analysis of variances (data dropped in transit) and explore potential problems
• Interfaces with other process towers to support more technical query resolution
• Coordinates with IT development team for potential issues and defects raised
• Analyses and reporting on external interface communication with core applications
• Performs continual business control activities including chart of accounts maintenance, exchange rate updates and accounting period control
• Supports period-end close activities
• Creates robust controls and checks to highlight any system anomalies

• Recruits and proactively develops the skills and capabilities of the team
• Fosters a culture of high-quality performance and continuous improvement in the process, drive employee engagement and delivery productivity commitments
• Plans, coordinates and reviews the work plan for assigned employees and respond to grievances or issues
• Ability to drive discipline across financial processes and provide professional accounting leadership
• Responsible for driving positive interactions with and feedback from internal and external business stakeholders
• Ensures process documentation and preparation/updating of standard operating Procedures (SOPs) whenever required.

Preferred candidate profile

• Prior managerial experience with the ability to guide, coach and mentor future managers, team leaders and members
• Extensive knowledge of finance ERP systems, including/Preferably Navision and Peoplesoft. Preferred VMS application knowledge
• Strong System configuration and data/query capabilities/understanding
• SQL knowledge (Ability to write both basic and complex SQLs along with Optimisation)
• Excellent communication skills (verbal and written), good interpersonal skills
• Ability to assemble, compile and analyse financial and non-financial data
• Advanced understanding and experience of basic office applications (including MS Office, Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook) and Power BI is preferred
• Ready to drive changes, initiate projects and perform multiple tasks
• Proven excellent people management skills including building and developing high performing teams
• Proficient in finance modules (general ledger, billing, receivables and payables)
• Extensive experience of minimum 8-15 years in end-to-end system configurations and financial reconciliations
• Experience of having managed a transition of activities to a shared service as a functional lead
• Track record of using data and metrics to make insight-driven business decisions
