Role & responsibilities
The Maintenance Manager is responsible for overseeing the maintenance and repair of electrical systems, machinery, equipment, and facilities in a manufacturing environment. This role also includes managing the plant's utilities. The role involves developing maintenance schedules, managing a team of maintenance technicians, ensuring compliance with safety standards, optimizing utility usage, and implementing strategies to improve the reliability and efficiency of electrical and utility systems.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Maintenance Planning and Scheduling:
Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs for electrical systems and equipment to minimize downtime and extend
Plan and schedule electrical maintenance activities, ensuring minimal disruption to production processes. Maintain accurate records of electrical maintenance activities, equipment status, and repairs.
2. Utilities Management:
Oversee the operation and maintenance of plant utilities, including HVAC, electrical, water, gas, and compressed air systems. Monitor utility usage and implement strategies to optimize energy efficiency and reduce costs.
Ensure all utility systems comply with relevant regulations and safety standards.
3. Electrical Systems Management:
Supervise the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems and equipment.
Ensure the plants electrical systems are in compliance with national electrical codes and safety standards. Conduct regular inspections and testing of electrical systems to identify and rectify issues.
4. Safety and Compliance:
Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, including health, safety, and environmental standards. Conduct regular safety inspections and audits, identifying potential hazards and implementing corrective actions. Develop and enforce safety protocols and procedures for electrical maintenance activities.
5. Operational Efficiency:
Implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance equipment reliability and reduce maintenance and utility costs. Monitor equipment and utility system performance and implement strategies to improve efficiency and productivity.
Collaborate with production and engineering teams to identify and resolve maintenance and utility-related issues.
6. Budget and Resource Management:
Develop and manage the maintenance and utilities budget, including forecasting expenses and monitoring expenditures. Negotiate contracts with service providers, suppliers, and contractors to ensure cost-effective solutions.
Optimize the use of resources, including labor, materials, and equipment.
7. Project Management:
Plan and oversee maintenance-related projects, such as electrical system upgrades, equipment installations, and overhauls. Coordinate with internal departments and external contractors to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget. Monitor project progress and address any issues that arise.
8. Documentation and Reporting:
Maintain detailed records of maintenance and utility activities, including work orders, equipment logs, and inspection reports. Prepare regular reports on maintenance and utility performance, including key metrics and recommendations for improvement. Ensure all documentation is accurate, up-to-date, and accessible.
Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Technology
Experience: At least 5 years of experience in maintenance management with a focus on electrical systems, preferably in a manufacturing environment, with experience in managing plant utilities.
Skills:
Excellent leadership and team management skills.
Proficient in maintenance planning and scheduling. Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities. Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
Familiarity with safety regulations and compliance standards.
Ability to manage budgets and resources efficiently.
Working Conditions:
This position typically works in a manufacturing environment, which may include exposure to loud noise, heavy machinery, and hazar
The role may require occasional lifting, climbing, or working in confined spaces.
The Maintenance Manager may need to be on-call for emergencies and must be available to work flexible hours, including weekends
