As a Legal Manager, you will serve as a key member of our Legal team, responsible for navigating the complexities of indirect taxation, corporate law and litigation. You will provide strategic legal guidance, manage tax-related disputes and contribute to the company s overall legal framework. Key Responsibilities :
Offer strategic advice on indirect tax matters, addressing operational and audit-related issues
Manage tax notices and litigation, including legacy tax disputes, to protect the company s interests
Represent the company before tax authorities, ensuring a proactive approach to tax compliance
Drive the digitisation of indirect taxation processes to streamline operations
Handle a range of legal matters, including drafting and vetting legal notices, responses, powers of attorney and affidavits
Draft and negotiate commercial agreements with third parties, including customers, manufacturers, contractors, vendors and distributors
Advise internal stakeholders on legal and regulatory matters, covering corporate and commercial law, labour and employment law
Protect the company s reputation and mitigate risks by ensuring compliance with all relevant laws and regulations
Coordinate with external counsel for court appearances, government agency representation, and dispute resolution strategies, managing associated costs effectively
Education:
Graduate/Post Graduate in Law
Experience:
7-12 years of experience in a law firm, in-house legal team, or tax consultancy firm
Skills:
Expertise in indirect taxation laws, including legacy laws, and solid knowledge of commercial and civil laws
Strong analytical and drafting skills, with a keen commercial acumen
Excellent communication skills to liaise effectively with internal and external stakeholders, including customers, government offices, and industry bodies
A proactive and solution-oriented mindset with the ability to handle time-sensitive matters
Experience in the chemical or manufacturing industry is preferred
Ability to manage multiple complex legal issues simultaneously and efficiently
