Physician Assistant

Role & responsibilities

• Assist cardiothoracic and vascular surgeons during surgeries, including preparation of surgical tools, instruments, and patient setup.
• Conduct pre-operative and post-operative patient assessments and consultations under the supervision of the surgeon.
• Monitor patients' vital signs and provide clinical care during their recovery in ICUs or wards.
• Perform minor invasive procedures (e.g., suturing, wound care, arterial/venous line placement) as directed by the surgeon.
• Coordinate and schedule diagnostic tests, imaging, and follow-up appointments for patients.
• Document patient records, including medical history, physical examination findings, and treatment plans.
• Educate patients and their families about surgical procedures, risks, post-operative care, and lifestyle modifications.
• Collaborate with the multi-disciplinary team (nurses, anesthetists, technicians) to ensure seamless patient care.
• Maintain compliance with hospital policies, safety protocols, and quality standards in the CTVS department.
• Actively participate in research, training programs, and case discussions within the department.

Preferred candidate profile

Education: Bachelors degree in Physician Assistant Studies or a related field, or a masters degree in Medical Sciences with relevant CTVS exposure.

Experience: 02 years of experience in cardiothoracic or vascular surgery settings. Freshers with internships in CTVS are welcome.

Skills

• Excellent clinical skills, including suturing, monitoring, and minor invasive procedures.
• Proficiency in medical equipment usage specific to cardiothoracic and vascular care.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Attention to detail and ability to work in high-pressure surgical environments.
• Knowledge of patient management systems and documentation.
• Certifications: BLS (Basic Life Support) and ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certifications are preferred.
