Electrical Site Lead - Solar EPC

Role & responsibilities

• Supervise electrical installation work, ensuring compliance with safety standards, quality protocols, and deadlines.
• Collaborate with the engineering team to ensure electrical designs meet project specifications, budget, and local codes.
• Define scope of work, bill of materials (BOM), and technical documentation for electrical components (inverters, transformers, cables, etc.).
• Coordinate with procurement teams to source high-quality electrical equipment within the defined budget.
• Conduct site visits to monitor electrical installation progress and resolve on-site technical issues.
• Oversee testing and commissioning of electrical systems, including performance testing of inverters, transformers, and switchgear.
• Ensure proper functioning of monitoring systems (SCADA) and interconnection with utility grids.
• Prepare and review documentation required for final project handover to clients.
• Manage and mentor site electrical teams and subcontractors, ensuring alignment with project goals.
• Conduct regular team meetings and provide updates to the Project Manager and stakeholders.
• Collaborate with civil, structural, and mechanical teams to resolve inter-disciplinary issues.
• Ensure all electrical installations meet relevant codes, regulations, and safety standards (e.g., IEC, NEC, or local standards).
• Maintain project documentation, including electrical drawings, test reports, and approvals from authorities.
• Conduct risk assessments and implement mitigation measures for electrical systems.

Preferred candidate profile

• Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• 5 - 8 years of experience in solar EPC projects.
• Proven experience in managing electrical aspects of utility-scale solar projects.
• Strong understanding of electrical components (inverters, transformers, switchgear) and grid integration requirements.
• Familiarity with SCADA systems and communication protocols.
