General Manager - Legal (Real Estate)

Position: General Manager - Legal
Location: Ghaziabad

Experience Required: 10+ years in legal management, with a focus on real estate

Key Responsibilities

1. Legal Advisory & Compliance:
   
• Provide strategic legal advice to the management team on real estate projects and business operations.
• Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and statutory requirements.
• Manage regulatory filings, approvals, and compliance with RERA and other real estate regulations.
2. Contract Management:
   
• Draft, review, and negotiate real estate agreements, contracts, and other legal documents, including sale deeds, lease agreements, MoUs, and joint ventures.
• Ensure all legal documents are comprehensive, legally sound, and mitigate risks for the organization.
3. Litigation Management:
   
• Handle and manage litigation and arbitration cases related to real estate disputes, property matters, and compliance issues.
• Coordinate with external legal counsel and represent the company in legal proceedings as required.
4. Property Due Diligence:
   
• Conduct due diligence for land acquisition, title verification, and other property-related transactions.
• Ensure proper documentation for land ownership and resolve title-related issues.
5. Risk Management:
   
• Identify potential legal risks in real estate projects and implement measures to mitigate them.
• Maintain updated knowledge of real estate laws and regulations to guide the organization effectively.
6. Stakeholder Coordination:
   
• Collaborate with government authorities, regulatory bodies, and external legal firms for smooth execution of real estate transactions and projects.
• Work closely with internal departments such as sales, finance, and project teams to address legal issues.
7. Team Leadership:
   
• Lead and mentor the legal team to ensure effective and efficient handling of all legal matters.
• Build a strong knowledge-sharing culture within the team to stay updated on legal trends and practices.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in Law (LLB) or equivalent; Master’s degree in Law (LLM) preferred.
• Extensive experience in legal functions within the real estate sector.
• Strong knowledge of RERA, property laws, contract laws, and regulatory compliance.
• Excellent drafting, negotiation, and communication skills.
• Proven track record in handling complex litigation and arbitration cases.
• Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Leadership and team management skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Exposure to real estate development and joint ventures.
• Experience dealing with large-scale land acquisitions and title clearance.
• Strong network within regulatory bodies and legal fraternities.
