About the Role

We are looking for a Lead Backend Engineer with deep expertise in System Design, Microservices Architecture, and Large-Scale Systems. The ideal candidate should be language-agnostic and have expertise in distributed systems, event-driven architectures (Kafka), caching strategies (Redis), and scalable database design (MongoDB/SQL/NoSQL). This role involves designing high-performance backend solutions, leading a team, and ensuring adherence to best practices in software development.

Key Responsibilities

• Architect, design, and optimize large-scale, distributed backend systems.
• Lead and mentor a team of engineers in backend development best practices.
• Implement Microservices Architecture focused on scalability, security, and maintainability.
• Design and implement event-driven architectures using Kafka or similar messaging systems.
• Optimize performance using Redis caching, database indexing, and query optimization.
• Guide system design discussions, ensuring efficient handling of high-traffic workloads.
• Drive best practices for scalability, fault tolerance, and high availability.
• Collaborate with product, frontend, DevOps, and business teams to align technology with business goals.
• Ensure code quality, security, and performance through reviews, best practices, and automation.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• 6+ years of backend development experience, with a strong focus on system design.
• Expertise in Microservices, Distributed Systems, and Event-Driven Architectures.
• Language-agnostic with hands-on experience in Node.js, Java, Go, Python, or similar.
• Experience with large-scale systems handling millions of requests per day.
• Strong database experience (MongoDB, SQL, NoSQL), with an emphasis on scalability and performance tuning.
• Deep knowledge of Kafka or similar pub/sub messaging systems.
• Proficiency in caching strategies (Redis, Memcached) for high-performance applications.
• Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines, Docker, Kubernetes, and cloud infrastructure (AWS/GCP/Azure).
• Strong understanding of API security, authentication, and authorization mechanisms (OAuth, JWT).
• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to make technical decisions at scale.

Nice to Have

• Experience in high-concurrency, low-latency system designs.
• Familiarity with observability tools (Grafana, Prometheus, OpenTelemetry).
• Understanding of machine learning and AI-driven backend architectures.
