Purpose of the role1. Functional safety Expert provides guidance and support to the program team in the development of their work products per the safety case in compliance with ISO 26262.2. Be the main contributor of the implementation of a work process that is aligned to the ISO26262 and IEC 61508 standard
Roles and Responsibilities1. Producing and tracking work products, such as System Safety Program Plan, Safety Manual, Safety Concepts, ASIL assignment / decomposition, Preliminary Hazard Analysis, Hazard Analysis and Risk Assessment, Safety Requirements, and FTA2. Lead Full/Delta Functional Safety Tests Verification and Validation on bench and vehicle3. Ownership of the functional safety concepts.3. Establish and maintain all functional safety relevant internal and external interfaces4. Timely communicate/update to COC Leads regarding any slippage, any compromise on targets, any decision/conclusion/deviation requirements etc.5. Arrange/track meetings among engineering CFT depending on need during complete product development phase.6. Participation in Daily work meetings, aggregate reviews and Apex reviews, highlight and escalate requirements of E&E. 7. Collect the engineering risk involved and propose best possible mitigation from concerned stakeholders. 8. Ensure good working relationship of the teams with suppliers, with other departments and other key stakeholders, to get the work done efficiently.10. Ensure meeting all attributes target for E&E aggregates. 11. Maintain and expand functional safety capabilities in the existing products12. Functional safety requirement management13. Assist in the certification process14. Conduct reviews with product teams to ensure functional safety standards are being met throughout product development cycles15. Drive changes needed within the organization to secure ISO26262 and IEC 61508 compliance16. Recognize when and how to address critical system safety topics with customers and represent the business in forum17. Maintain an open issues list that is key for the successful tracking of issues from meetings own activities18. Confirm and verify that safety plan and safety case as developed by Functional Safety engineers will ensure functional safety relevant deliverables are met in compliance with customer & internal company product & project gateways19. Ensure requirements traceability, completeness and coverage and plan improvements20. Support the management and control of the various Functional Safety templates and guidelines developed to aid Functional Safety work product development
Domain Knowledge (Skills Required)
1) 15+ years of experience in domain of product engineering and development
2) Must have experience with SW/HW engineering development activities
Develop design verification tests at the component, system, and vehicle level4) Knowledge of function based FMEA analysis.5) Experience in the use of system modeling notations such as SysML6) Extensive experience in Automotive Engineering and Development experience in Functional Safety implementation7) Allocate safety requirements to the appropriate HW and SW components according to ECU Subsystem architecture design8) Identify, develop, and review safety requirements9) DOORs, IQ RM, ITEM toolkit, Enterprise Architecture (SysML), Product Lifecycle Management tool (PLM), Medini Analyze (Functional Safety tools) 10) Understanding of theFunctional Safety legislation, directives and standards.
