Freight Tiger - Engineering Manager - PHP/Node.js (10-12 yrs)

About the Role :

As an Engineering Leader at Freight Tiger, you will play a key role in leading, mentoring, and managing a team of skilled software engineers. You will be responsible for overseeing the development of a line of products, ensuring they meet the highest standards of quality, performance, and innovation.

The role is at the crossroads of enterprise tech and the latest in SaaS delivery. The right candidate must be a self-motivated, fast learner who can bridge the technologies from either side efficiently.

Key responsibilities :

As a successful Manager you will be expected to be a :

- Own the engineering function for Freight Tiger's product suite.

- Oversee all software development activity - manage tasks, milestones, and dependencies across multiple concurrent projects.

- Lead a team of top notch engineers to own, drive and deliver critical parts of the product.

- Collaborate with internal stakeholders (Product Mgmt, Business, Sales etc) to improve product capabilities and services.

- Ensure implementation of formal best practices and standards for software development.

- Play an active role in hiring, training, mentoring, and motivating a world-class engineering talent pool.

- Define technical vision and roadmap, aligning with product and business goals.

- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple competing priorities and negotiate the best possible outcomes for the organization.

Preferred qualifications :

- 12 + years of total experience of which 5+ years of experience directly managing teams of Software Engineers.

- Deep experience in building enterprise software solutions.

- A strong track record of project delivery for large, cross-functional, projects and bringing in and growing engineering talent.

- Proficiency in languages such as PHP, NodeJS, Java

- Proficiency with data storage solutions like MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB and ElasticSearch

- Experience with distributed systems and messaging platforms like Kafka.

- Highly analytical with the ability to think first principles.

- Has excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to make quick decisions based on business needs.

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present complex technical information clearly and concisely to a variety of audiences
