Chief Operating Officer (COO)


Job Description:


The Chief Operating Officer (COO) shall be responsible for leading all the business verticals and overseeing the day-to-day operational functions of the organization. This role is crucial in ensuring that all aspects of the organization run smoothly, efficiently, and align with its strategic goals. Below is a detailed job description :

Operational Leadership:

- Develop and implement operational strategies that support the overall mission and vision of the organization.

- Oversee the daily operations of the organization, including academic programs, administrative services, and student support functions.

- Ensure compliance with all regulatory, accreditation, and legal requirements.

- Drive continuous improvement in operational processes and systems to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.

Strategic Planning:

- Responsible for policy decision making with the Chairman & Directors for ensuring organization growth

- Collaborate with the HODs and important staff to develop and execute long-term strategic plans.

- Lead the execution of the organization's strategic initiatives, ensuring alignment with the institution's goals.

- Monitor industry trends and competitive landscape to inform strategic decisions.

Financial Management:

- Oversee budgeting, financial planning, and resource allocation to ensure financial stability and sustainability.

- Manage financial performance, including revenue growth, cost control, and profitability.

- Ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance with financial regulations.

Human Resources Management:

- Lead and manage the human resources function, including recruitment, training, development, and performance management.

- Foster a positive organizational culture that supports professional growth, collaboration, and diversity.

- Ensure effective communication across all levels of the organization.

Student Experience:

- Oversee student services and support functions, ensuring a high-quality student experience.

- Work closely with academic leaders to ensure that educational programs meet the needs of students and adhere to high standards.

- Implement initiatives to enhance student retention, satisfaction, and success.


Technology and Innovation:

- Lead the integration of technology into the operational and educational processes.

- Identify and implement innovative solutions to improve operational efficiency and educational delivery.

- Stay abreast of emerging educational technologies and their potential applications within the organization.

Risk Management and Compliance:

- Identify potential risks to the organization and develop mitigation strategies.

- Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards.

- Oversee health and safety policies and procedures to ensure a safe learning environment.

Stakeholder Engagement:

- Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including faculty, staff, students, parents, and community partners.

- Represent the organization at external events, conferences, and meetings.

- Work with the marketing and communications teams to promote the organization and its programs.

Minimum Education - MBA Marketing from a Premier Institute

Working Experience - 20-30 years

- At least 10 years of experience in operational leadership roles, with a strong background in the education sector.

- Should have been working as COO / CEO for atleast 3-4 years in a large multi locational reputed organization with proven high performance delivery track record

Industry & other skills - Education ( preferred ) , Insurance , Holidays , Space selling , Concept selling , Telecom , FMCG ( only top end organizations )

Other Skills:

- Strong leadership and management skills.

- Excellent strategic planning and execution abilities.

- Financial acumen and experience in budget management.

- Strong understanding of educational regulations and compliance.

- Proficiency in technology and its application in education.

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

- Strategic thinker with the ability to see the big picture and manage details.

- Collaborative and team-oriented approach to leadership.

- High ethical standards and integrity.

- Passion for education and commitment to improving student outcomes.

IT Knowledge - Must be well-versed with excel, power point, word and presentations

Willingness to Travel Must be ready to travel
