Job Description

Role & responsibilities

The Business Head is a dynamic and results-oriented leader responsible for driving revenue growth and overall business success for the agency. This role focuses heavily on new business acquisition, strategic planning, client relationship management, and team leadership. The Business Head will develop and execute strategies to secure new clients, expand our offerings and position the agency as a leader in the event management industry. A strong focus will be placed on direct sales activities, including cold calling, appointment setting, and consistently achieving monthly and quarterly sales targets.

Key Responsibilities:

  • New Business Development (Direct Sales Focus): Actively identify and pursue new business opportunities through a variety of direct sales activities. This includes:
    • Cold Calling: Proactively contact potential clients via phone, email or networking to introduce the agency's services and qualify leads.
    • Lead Generation: Develop and implement strategies for generating new leads, including online research, networking, and attending industry events.
    • Meeting Setting: Schedule and conduct meetings with potential clients to understand their event needs and present tailored solutions.
    • Proposal Development: Create compelling and competitive proposals that address client requirements and highlight the agency's value proposition.
    • Closing Deals: Negotiate contracts and close deals to secure new business. Consistently achieve monthly and quarterly sales targets.
  • Client Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients, understanding their needs and ensuring client satisfaction. Oversee the client relationship management process to maximize client retention and repeat business.
  • Strategic Planning: Develop and implement the agency's overall business plan, including market analysis, competitive analysis, target market identification, and revenue projections.
  • Sales Leadership: Recruit, lead and motivate the sales team, providing coaching, training, and performance management. Set sales targets and monitor team performance, including individual contributions to cold calling, meeting setting, and revenue generation.
  • Marketing & Branding: Collaborate with the marketing team to develop and execute marketing strategies that promote the agency's services and brand.
  • Event Strategy & Execution Oversight: While not directly managing event execution, the Business Head should have a strong understanding of event logistics and provide strategic guidance to the event management teams to ensure successful event delivery and client satisfaction.
  • MIS Management: Develop daily, weekly and monthly MIS reports which track revenue, expenses, and other details. Prepare regular reports on business performance, including sales performance against targets.
  • Team Leadership: Build and manage a high-performing team, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment. Provide mentorship and development opportunities for team members.


Preferred candidate profile

  • Education: Any Graduate
  • Experience: Minimum 5 years in the same role or handling P&L or in business development, sales, or marketing, in an event management or hospitality industry. Proven track record of achieving sales targets, including through cold calling and direct sales efforts.
  • Sales Skills: Excellent sales and negotiation skills, with a demonstrated ability to build rapport, overcome objections, and close deals. Experience with cold calling and appointment setting is essential.
  • Communication Skills: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including presentation and public speaking skills.
  • Leadership Skills: Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire others, especially in a sales-driven environment.
  • Strategic Thinking: Ability to think strategically and develop short & long-term business plans.
  • Market Knowledge: Deep understanding of the event management industry and market trends.
  • Financial Acumen: Strong financial management skills, including budgeting and forecasting.
  • Networking Skills: Strong networking and relationship building skills.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to identify and resolve complex problems.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in CRM software and Microsoft Office Suite.

Preferred Skills and Qualifications:

  • Experience working with high-profile corporate clients or large-scale events.
  • Existing network of contacts in the event management industry.
  • Knowledge of event planning software and tools.
