Lead - Finance & Accounts

Role Summary:

The incumbent will be responsible for financial planning, cost management, compliance, and strategic decision-making in iron ore mining and pelletizing project. The incumbent will oversee budgeting, financial reporting, taxation, treasury management, and risk mitigation, ensuring financial discipline and profitability.

This role demands expertise in cost control, regulatory compliance (IFRS, GAAP, mining royalties, and taxation), ERP implementation, and financial risk management. The individual will work closely with operations, procurement, and leadership teams to optimize financial efficiency, drive business growth, and ensure adherence to statutory regulations.

By leading finance teams, implementing robust internal controls, and leveraging digital transformation, the incumbent will play a critical role in enhancing financial performance and supporting strategic business expansion in the metals & mining sector.

Responsibilities:

Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A):

• To lead the preparation of annual budgets, forecasts, and financial models for mining and pelletizing operations.
• To conduct financial variance analysis, cost control measures, and investment appraisals to optimize profitability.
• To provide financial insights to support capital investments, expansion projects, and operational efficiency improvements.

Accounting & Compliance:

• To oversee financial statements, ledger management, and statutory reporting in compliance with IFRS, GAAP, and local tax regulations.
• To ensure compliance with GST, income tax,royalty payments, mining levies, and other statutory obligations in the mining sector.
• To manage audit processes (internal & external), liaising with auditors, regulatory bodies, and financial institutions.

Cost Management & Profitability Analysis:

• To monitor and control costing mechanisms for mining, beneficiation, and pelletizing operations.
• To develop cost allocation models, cost-benefit analysis, and efficiency tracking to improve profitability.
• To optimize raw material procurement, logistics, and production costs to enhance financial performance.

Treasury & Cash Flow Management:

• To manage working capital, fund flow, and banking relationships to ensure financial stability.
• Oversee loans, credit facilities, foreign exchange transactions, and financial risk management.
• Ensure effective capital allocation, investment planning, and fund utilization for business growth.

Financial Risk & Internal Controls:

• To implement internal controls, risk mitigation strategies, and governance policies to ensure financial discipline.
• Identify and mitigate financial risks related to mining licenses, royalties, regulatory changes, and commodity price fluctuations.
• Ensure strict compliance with corporate financial policies and industry-specific regulations.

ERP & Digital Finance Transformation:

• To lead financial digitization initiatives, including ERP implementation (SAP, Oracle, etc.) for automation and data-driven decision-making.
• To optimize financial reporting through BI tools, dashboards, and predictive analytics.

Leadership & Team Management:

• To supervise and mentor finance & accounts teams, ensuring high performance and professional growth.
• Collaborate with operations, procurement, legal, and HR teams to drive financial excellence across the organization.

Preferred candidate profile

Education and Experience

• CA / CMA / CFA or equivalent financial qualification.
• Minimum 10 to 15 years of experience in Finance & Accounts. (Preferably in the Metal and Mining sector).
• Candidates with Overseas experience will be given preference.

Technical Skills

• Expertise in financial planning, budgeting, costing, and taxation specific to mining operations.
• Strong knowledge of IFRS, GAAP, direct & indirect taxation, and regulatory compliance.
• Hands-on experience with ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, or similar) and financial reporting tools.
