Finance & Operations Manager - Africa

Location: Zambia or Ethiopia

Job Summary:

We are seeking a Finance & Operations Manager to oversee our financial and operational activities in Africa. The ideal candidate will have a strong accounting background and be responsible for handling all financial operations, including bank reconciliations, compliance, and liaison with government departments. Additionally, this role requires engagement with local stakeholders to identify and resolve project-related challenges, ensuring smooth business operations.

The manager will be responsible for operational tasks of the company as well.

The job will comprise of 60% finance related & 40% operations related work.

Key Responsibilities:

Accounting & Financial Management

• Maintain accurate financial records and oversee all accounting processes.
• Reconcile bank statements and manage financial reporting.
• Ensure compliance with Zambian tax laws, financial regulations, and audits.
• Manage accounts payable/receivable and oversee expense tracking.
• Support budgeting, financial planning, and cost control initiatives.

Government & Regulatory Liaison

• Work closely with Zambian government authorities to obtain necessary approvals and permits.
• Ensure compliance with Zambia Revenue Authority (ZRA), PACRA, and other regulatory bodies.
• Prepare and submit financial reports as required by local regulations.
• Address compliance-related issues and work with legal teams to resolve them.
• Submit production reports, finance reports etc. on monthly basis to respective departments

Operations & Stakeholder Management

• Take care of all day to day operational activities
• Ensure productivity of all junior staff by monitoring their daily activities and tasks assigned
• Engage with local stakeholders, including community leaders, vendors, and project teams.
• Identify and address any operational challenges in coordination with management.
• Act as a key point of contact between the company and local authorities.
• Oversee minor procurement works and ensure smooth supply chain operations.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration
• Minimum 5+ years of experience in accounting, financial management, or operations.
• Prior experience liaising with government authorities for business compliance.
• Excellent problem-solving and operations management skills.
• Ability to work independently in a dynamic environment.
• Fluency in English and Hindi. Knowledge of local languages is a plus.
• Valid Passport without any travel violations
• Clean police record for visa verification
