Key Responsibilities for PostgreSQL DBA:

• Design and Deployment of High Availability PostgreSQL Clusters:
• Architect, deploy, and maintain highly available PostgreSQL clusters using the CloudNativePG Kubernetes operator.
• Configure replication strategies, failover mechanisms, and backup solutions to meet an uptime of 99.9%, RPO of 5 minutes, and RTO of 30 minutes.
• Implement synchronous and asynchronous replication models, leveraging physical streaming replication and logical replication as needed.
• Customize PostgreSQL configurations (e.g., postgresql.conf, pg_hba.conf) for optimal performance and security.
• Edge Deployment Management Across Multiple Sites:
• Deploy PostgreSQL clusters to hundreds of edge locations using Kubernetes, ensuring consistent configurations and performance across all sites.
• Optimize deployments for resource-constrained environments typical of edge computing, including efficient use of CPU, memory, and storage.
• Performance Optimization, Monitoring, and Incident Response:
• Set up comprehensive monitoring solutions using Prometheus and Grafana to track database health, query performance, and replication lag.
• Develop automated alerting mechanisms for incidents such as failovers, replication issues, or resource exhaustion.

Experience:

• Technical Expertise:
• 5+ years of hands-on experience with PostgreSQL database administration, including clustering and replication.
• Extensive experience with Kubernetes in production environments, specifically deploying stateful applications using StatefulSets, PersistentVolumeClaims, and StorageClasses.
• Proficient with the CloudNativePG operator, including custom resource definitions (CRDs), operator lifecycle management, and troubleshooting operator issues.
