Manager - Middle Mile

Job Overview:

The Middle Mile role involves managing the transportation and distribution of goods between warehouses, distribution centers, and fulfillment centers. This position ensures timely, efficient, and cost-effective logistics for the movement of inventory, helping to bridge the gap between the first and last mile of the supply chain.

Key Responsibilities:

• Logistics Coordination: Oversee the flow of goods between warehouses and fulfillment centers or distribution hubs.
• Transportation Management: Work with carriers, shipping companies, and suppliers to ensure timely and cost-effective movement of goods.
• Route Optimization: Use logistics software to plan and optimize delivery routes, improving efficiency and reducing operational costs.
• Inventory Management: Collaborate with inventory teams to ensure accurate tracking of goods, shipments, and stock levels.
• Quality Control: Ensure that goods are handled properly during transit and that they reach their destinations in good condition.
• Data Analysis & Reporting: Analyze data on transportation costs, delivery times, and performance metrics to identify areas for improvement.
• Vendor & Stakeholder Communication: Manage relationships with third-party vendors, suppliers, and internal teams to ensure smooth operations.
• Compliance & Safety: Ensure all transportation activities comply with regulations, safety standards, and company policies.
• Problem Solving: Address and resolve any logistical challenges or delays in the middle mile process.

Skills & Qualifications:

• Education: Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business, or a related field (preferred).
• Experience: 7 to 12 years in logistics, supply chain management, or transportation.
• Software Proficiency: Experience with logistics management software (e.g., TMS, WMS) or Microsoft Excel.
• Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze logistics data, identify trends, and make recommendations for improvements.
• Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication for collaborating with internal teams and external partners.
• Attention to Detail: Ability to track shipments, manage inventory, and ensure compliance with regulations.
• Problem Solving: Quick-thinking and creative solutions for unforeseen challenges in the supply chain.

Physical Demands:

• Ability to work in an office environment with occasional visits to warehouses or distribution centers.
• Occasional travel may be required for overseeing operations at different facilities.

Work Environment:

• Fast-paced, high-pressure environment where deadlines and coordination with multiple teams are crucial.
