Education :


1. B.E. / B.Tech with ADIS or PDIS from Recognized State Board

2. Diploma with ADIS or PDIS from Recognized State Board

3. B.SC with ADIS or PDIS from Recognized State Board


Roles and Responsibilities:


1. Safety Management and Compliance

  • Ensure Regulatory Compliance: Ensure the plant complies with national and international safety regulations, such as OSHA, ISO 45001 (Occupational Health and Safety), and other industry-specific safety standards.
  • Safety Audits & Inspections: Regularly conduct safety audits and inspections of machinery, equipment, and processes to identify potential hazards and implement corrective measures.
  • Documentation & Reporting: Maintain accurate records of safety inspections, accident reports, risk assessments, and safety meetings, and ensure timely reporting to management and relevant authorities.
  • Review Safety Procedures: Continuously review and update safety procedures and protocols to meet changing industry standards, regulations, and technological advancements.

2. Risk Assessment and Hazard Analysis

  • Risk Assessment: Perform risk assessments and hazard analysis for new processes, materials, and equipment to identify potential safety issues and implement control measures to mitigate risks.
  • Safety Analysis: Assess risks related to chemical exposure, fire, machinery, and other potential hazards specific to steel production and coating processes.
  • Process Safety: Focus on ensuring that both operational and maintenance activities align with safety protocols, particularly in high-risk areas such as heat treatment, welding, and coating.

3. Incident Investigation and Root Cause Analysis

  • Investigate Accidents and Near Misses: When accidents or near-miss events occur, lead investigations to determine the root causes and prevent future incidents by proposing corrective actions.
  • Corrective and Preventive Actions: Recommend corrective actions following accidents or incidents, ensuring that measures are taken to prevent recurrence.
  • Report Findings: Document investigation findings and ensure proper follow-up on corrective actions, providing clear recommendations to reduce future risks.

4. Safety Training and Awareness

  • Employee Training Programs: Design and conduct safety training programs to educate plant workers on proper safety procedures, emergency response plans, and the correct use of safety equipment.
  • Ongoing Safety Awareness: Foster a culture of safety through continuous awareness campaigns, toolbox talks, safety drills, and employee involvement in safety initiatives.
  • Emergency Response Drills: Organize and lead periodic emergency response drills (e.g., fire drills, evacuation procedures) to ensure the workforce is prepared for potential emergencies.

5. Health and Environmental Protection

  • Monitoring Health Hazards: Identify and monitor health hazards, such as exposure to harmful chemicals, noise, and fumes, and recommend appropriate protective measures (e.g., respirators, ventilation systems).
  • Ergonomics and Well-being: Address ergonomic hazards to reduce the risk of musculoskeletal disorders and ensure the well-being of workers by promoting practices that minimize strain during physically demanding tasks.
  • Environmental Safety: Ensure that the plant's operations are compliant with environmental regulations, particularly related to the release of pollutants, emissions, and waste management.

6. Safety Equipment and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Management

  • PPE Distribution and Maintenance: Oversee the distribution, inspection, and maintenance of personal protective equipment (PPE), such as gloves, helmets, eye protection, hearing protection, and fire-resistant clothing.
  • Safety Equipment Inspection: Ensure regular inspection of safety equipment such as fire extinguishers, first aid kits, gas detectors, and emergency shutdown systems, ensuring they are in good working order.

7. Safety Performance Monitoring and Reporting

  • Key Safety Metrics: Monitor safety performance using key metrics, such as the incident rate, near misses, safety observations, and training completion rates.
  • Reporting to Management: Provide regular safety performance reports to plant management, offering insights into safety performance and areas for improvement.
  • Safety Improvement Plans: Work closely with plant management to develop strategies for continuous safety improvement, ensuring a proactive approach to safety issues.

8. Collaborating with Other Departments

  • Cross-Department Collaboration: Collaborate with engineering, operations, maintenance, and HR teams to integrate safety considerations into all plant operations and improve overall safety culture.
  • Safety in Project Development: Work with project teams to ensure safety is embedded in new projects, machinery installations, and operational changes.

9. Emergency Management and Crisis Response

  • Emergency Response Planning: Develop, implement, and update emergency response plans for a variety of potential incidents, such as fires, chemical spills, equipment failures, and natural disasters.
  • Crisis Management: In the event of an emergency, lead the crisis management efforts, coordinating with emergency services, and ensuring the safety of workers, plant assets, and the environment.

10. Continuous Improvement

  • Safety Culture Development: Encourage and promote a proactive safety culture by engaging employees at all levels and creating a supportive environment where safety concerns are reported without fear of retaliation.
  • Continuous Training: Stay updated with the latest safety technologies, trends, and best practices, and apply them to enhance the safety management systems.
