Role Purpose:
- The Transfer Pricing Senior Manager is a key role within the Tax team in Coats, responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of transfer pricing to ensure compliance with international tax laws and regulations.
- This role will lead development and implementation of transfer pricing strategies, including optimising intercompany pricing policies and minimising tax risks across the Group's global operations.
- The Transfer Pricing Senior Manager will also drive an initiative to streamline transfer pricing documentation, and will lead transfer pricing elements of tax audits and dispute resolutions.
The position reports to the Group Head of Tax.
Key Responsibilities:
TP Planning & Policy Development:
- Monitor and update the Group's transfer pricing strategies to support the overall business objectives, including updating the Group's transfer pricing policies and methodologies to ensure they align with current business strategy, operations and regulatory requirements.
- Lead ongoing Advance Pricing Agreements (APAs) with countries such as India and Indonesia to ensure favourable outcomes and compliance, and consider opportunities for other APAs/MAPs.
- Communicate transfer pricing strategies and updates to senior stakeholders.
M&A activities:
- Provide expert transfer pricing advice and support during M&A transactions, including due diligence, integration planning, and post-transaction implementation.
- Develop and implement transfer pricing strategies for newly acquired entities to align with the Group's overall transfer pricing policies and objectives.
TP Risk Management:
- Identify key transfer pricing risks and develop approaches to mitigate these risks effectively.
- Monitor changes in tax regulations and assess their impact on the Group's transfer pricing strategy.
TP Compliance and Audit Management:
- Maintain transfer pricing documentation for intercompany transactions, including the Group Master File, local files, other transaction-specific documentation, and CBC Reporting.
- Work with the financial teams to ensure adherence to the Group's transfer pricing policies and methodologies, including reviewing the basis for calculations of intercompany charges and assisting finance stakeholders in implementing these policies.
- Monitor and analyse the implications of the OECD's Pillar 2 rules on the Group's transfer pricing policies, including developing and implementing strategies to ensure compliance with Pillar 2 requirements, mitigating potential risks and optimising the Group's tax position.
- Support tax audits including ownership of transfer pricing audit queries from tax authorities globally, providing necessary documentation and strategic responses.
Group Reporting and Forecasting:
- Assist with transfer pricing-related aspects of Group reporting, ensuring accurate and timely information is provided, including managing the transfer pricing aspects of the half-year and year-end financial closing processes.
- Lead the transfer pricing component of statutory audits, providing appropriate documentation and explanations to external auditors.
- Assist with transfer pricing-related aspects of Group forecasting process.
TP Business Support:
- Work closely with the three business divisions and relevant finance, operational, and support functions to address queries and resolve issues related to transfer pricing.
- Provide expert advice on transfer pricing matters to ensure business operations remain compliant and efficient.
TP Process Management:
- Collaborate with finance teams to enhance and streamline transfer pricing processes.
- Implement best practices in transfer pricing to improve operational efficiency and compliance.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Qualified Accountant/ Tax Professional (e. ACA, ATII).
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in transfer pricing within a professional services firm or multinational corporation.
- At least 5 years experience in a similar role in a multinational corporation.
- Deep knowledge of transfer pricing principles, regulations, and best practices.
- Ability to apply technical knowledge to real-world business scenarios.
- Proven track record in developing and implementing transfer pricing strategies and policies.
- Extensive experience with tax authority engagement (covering disputes and APAs/MAPs).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex transfer pricing concepts to non-specialist stakeholders.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Project management skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively across different geographies and functions.
Desirable:
- Experience in managing transfer pricing aspects of M&A transactions, including due diligence and post-transaction integration.
- Familiarity with OECD's Pillar 2 rules.
- Familiarity with transfer pricing software and tools.
