Testing Manager

Role Overview

The ideal candidate will have expertise in physical testing, chemical testing, and managing the testing phases for fit and wear during the New Product Development (NPD) process. The focus of this role is to ensure that all new products are tested thoroughly for comfort and durability at the initial stage and are launched without any fitting issues. This role involves coordination with the internal lab and internal purchase team to ensure all necessary resources are available for efficient testing.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Physical and Chemical Testing:

• Oversee and manage physical testing (e.g., durability, abrasion resistance, tensile strength) and chemical testing (e.g., materials safety, environmental compliance) for all new product prototypes.
• Ensure that all raw materials and components are tested for compliance with quality and regulatory standards before moving to the next stages of development.

2. Fit and Wear Testing:

• Lead and conduct fit testing to evaluate the comfort, sizing, and ergonomics of new sports shoe designs.
• Manage wear testing to simulate real-world usage and assess the products long-term durability, performance, and comfort.
• Identify any fit or wear issues during the testing phase and collaborate with the design and R&D teams to resolve them before the product goes into full-scale production.
• Ensure that all testing is conducted at the early stages of NPD, with a primary goal of launching products free from fitting issues.

3. Coordination with Internal Lab:

• Work closely with the internal lab to ensure that testing protocols are followed accurately.
• Manage the schedule and flow of testing, ensuring timely results to keep NPD timelines on track.
• Ensure proper documentation of test results, including detailed reports on the performance and quality of materials, fit, and wear.

4. Collaboration with Internal Purchase Team:

• Coordinate with the internal purchase team to ensure that all materials and testing tools are available for testing purposes in a timely manner.
• Assist in the procurement of any specific materials or resources needed for physical, chemical, fit, or wear testing.

5. Documentation and Reporting:

• Maintain accurate and comprehensive records of all tests conducted, including physical, chemical, fit, and wear testing.
• Generate and present detailed test reports that summarize key findings, concerns, and recommendations to the R&D, design, and management teams.
• Ensure that any issues identified during the testing phase are documented and addressed in collaboration with relevant teams.

6. Launch Support:

• Provide final sign-off for the NPD after ensuring that all fit, comfort, and durability tests have been successfully passed and no fitting issues remain.
• Monitor the feedback loop post-launch, ensuring that any unforeseen fitting or durability issues are captured and addressed for future product improvements.

What are we looking for

1. Experience

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in footwear testing or a related field, with specific expertise in physical and chemical testing of sports shoes.
• Proven experience in fit testing and wear testing of footwear, ensuring products are free from fitting issues before launch.
• Experience working closely with internal labs and the internal purchase team for resource coordination.

2. Skills:

• Strong technical understanding of physical testing (e.g., durability, performance) and chemical testing (e.g., material safety, environmental compliance) for footwear.
• Expertise in fit testing methodologies to assess comfort, size accuracy, and ergonomics.
• Proficient in wear testing techniques to evaluate real-world performance and longevity of footwear.
• Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple testing timelines and tasks efficiently.
• Excellent communication skills to collaborate with internal teams and present test results clearly.

3. Education:

• Bachelor's degree in Materials Science, Chemistry, Footwear Technology, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.

4. Personal Attributes:

• Detail-oriented and focused on ensuring the highest level of product quality, particularly concerning fit and comfort.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to address any issues identified during testing.
• Ability to work efficiently under pressure to meet NPD deadlines and ensure timely product launches.
• A proactive, solutions-oriented approach with the ability to collaborate across teams to resolve issues.

Working Days: Monday to Saturday (One Saturday off)

Location: Delhi (Peeragarhi)
