Job Summary
The Business Intelligence Systems Administrator 2 is responsible for managing, monitoring, architecting, enhancements, configuration, and implementation of the scalable, well-performing, cohesive, and integrated Enterprise Business Intelligence environment to ensure its health and availability for business use. This Administrator is able to work well in a collaborative environment and showcase responsiveness and flexibility.
Essential Job Functions:
MicroStrategy - Responsible for all aspects of MicroStrategy administration functions for all projects and servers, user administration, and object security. Install, configure, deploy, and maintain all MicroStrategy software releases appropriate for the environment. Plan and execute patches and minor/major release upgrades for all MicroStrategy products. Develop/implement/test disaster recovery strategy for MicroStrategy architecture. Maintain and ensure the integrity of project schemas across multiple environments. Administer the object change management process which includes object migration across the various environments using Object Manager or Project Merge.
Informatica - Responsible for implementing scalable, well-performing, cohesive, and integrated Informatica infrastructure using Informatica PowerCenter, Informatica Power Exchange, and Informatica Data Quality. Knowledge of RedHat Linux is required for managing the server-side applications. Relied upon to troubleshoot Informatica at a service level, as well as assist in troubleshooting on the storage/OS side. Act as an ambassador of the product to multiple teams such as Network, Application Development, Production Support, Database and Unix Administrators. Possess good understanding on Informatica ETL tool.
Intelligence Support - Provide day-to-day support for servers and all supported application components. Act as the primary go between for all internal and external application and infrastructure support partners for resolution of BI systems related issues. Submit and manage issues and enhancement cases with the systems for administration/environment related items. Complete and support the rollout of the upgrade through the development, testing, and production environments.
Documentation and Reporting - Maintain, update, and create BI technical standards, specifications, documents, etc. Measure utilization and provide reports monthly showing user usage and system utilization vs. capacity. Responsible for capacity planning and management. Define processes and tools to train level 1 production support on performance monitoring.
Audits and Monitoring - Monitor server, report performance and monitor/manage overall system health. Monitor and tune environment configuration and settings. Conduct research and analysis for all new releases and upgrades, making recommendations as appropriate.
User Management - Handle all aspects of user security, including creation of new profiles, user change management, security roles, automation or provisioning tasks, and user group management. Periodic auditing/reporting for inactive users.
