Job Description

The Public Relations Coordinator will be responsible for managing and enhancing the public

image of the BlueKraft Fellowship Program. This role involves developing communication

strategies, coordinating media relations, and ensuring effective dissemination of information

about the fellowship's activities, achievements, and events. The ideal candidate will have strong

communication skills, a knack for storytelling, and experience in public relations or

communications.


Key Responsibilities:

1. Media Relations:

  • Develop and maintain relationships with journalists, bloggers, and media

outlets to promote the fellowship program.

  • Draft press releases, media advisories, and other communication materials to

announce key events, milestones, and achievements.


2. Content Creation:

  • Create engaging content for various platforms, including press releases,

newsletters, social media posts, and website updates.

  • Collaborate with the marketing team to ensure consistent messaging and

branding across all communication channels.


3. Event Promotion:

  • Coordinate public relations efforts for fellowship events, including the

orientation program, workshops, and the year-end graduation event.

  • Develop promotional materials and strategies to maximize attendance and

media coverage for events.

4. Crisis Communication:

  • Assist in developing crisis communication plans and respond to media

inquiries in a timely and professional manner.

  • Monitor media coverage and public sentiment regarding the fellowship

program and address any issues that arise.


5. Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Work closely with fellows, mentors, and knowledge partners to gather stories

and testimonials that highlight the impact of the fellowship.


  • Facilitate communication between the fellowship team and external

stakeholders, including government officials, industry leaders, and community

organizations.

6. Reporting and Analysis:

  • Track and analyze media coverage and public relations efforts to assess the

effectiveness of communication strategies.

  • Prepare regular reports on public relations activities and outcomes for the

centers leadership.


Qualifications:

• Education: Bachelors degree in Public Relations, Communications, Journalism, or a

related field. A Master’s degree is a plus.

• Experience:

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in public relations, communications, or

media relations.

  • Experience in managing communications for educational or fellowship

programs is preferred.


• Skills:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
  • Proficiency in social media platforms and content management systems.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Creative thinker with a passion for storytelling and public engagement.
  • Proactive and adaptable, with a strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
