Job Description :
Key Responsibilities :
- Install, configure, and maintain SQL Server instances and databases to ensure high availability, security, and performance.
- Migrate and help migration team with all database related activities, from technical to change management needs.
- Collaborate with application developers and key stakeholders to understand database requirements and translate them into effective database designs.
- Troubleshoot and resolve database-related issues, including performance bottlenecks, deadlocks, and locking issues during migrations.
- Implement security measures to protect sensitive data and ensure compliance with data protection regulations such as TDE.
- Document database configurations, procedures, and processes and support the creation and maintenance of documentation for database solutions.
- Monitor and diagnose technical issues with production databases and applications.
- Accountable for key metrics such as database uptime, performance, and optimization of resource utilization.
What We Are Looking For :
Required Qualifications :
- 5-7 years of experience in database administration, specifically with Microsoft SQL Server.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Database Management, or a related field.
- Strong proficiency in SQL Server, T-SQL, and database design principles.
- Experience in database migration across different hosting platforms and versions (Downgrade and Upgrade)
- Knowledge of backup and recovery strategies for SQL Server environments.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Familiarity with tools such as JIRA, Confluence, or similar project management software.
- AWS and AZR platform, troubleshooting and background experience. Including Azure SQL and Virtual Machine\EC2 knowledge.
Desired Qualifications :
- Experience with other database management systems (e.g., Oracle, MySQL) is a plus.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with technical and non- technical stakeholders.
- Proven track record of designing, developing, enhancing, and implementing technical solutions to business problems and opportunities.
Key Responsibilities :
Database Management :
- Install, configure, and maintain SQL Server databases (on-premises and cloud-based).
- Perform database performance tuning and optimization to ensure high availability and efficiency.
- Monitor, manage, and troubleshoot SQL Server instances and databases.
- Configure and maintain database security, including user access, permissions, and roles.
- Implement and maintain backup and recovery strategies for critical databases.
- Ensure proper disaster recovery and business continuity planning.
Performance Tuning & Optimization :
- Analyze and optimize database queries, indexes, and server performance.
- Tune SQL Server for efficient query processing and fast response times.
- Use tools such as SQL Profiler, Execution Plans, and Performance Monitor to identify and resolve performance bottlenecks.
Database Design and Architecture :
- Collaborate with developers and system architects on database design, schema development, and data modeling.
- Review and enhance database structures to ensure scalability and high availability.
High Availability and Disaster Recovery :
- Configure and maintain SQL Server Always On Availability Groups, database mirroring, and log shipping.
- Set up and manage SQL Server clustering to ensure high availability.
- Implement disaster recovery procedures to ensure minimal downtime.
Backup and Recovery :
- Set up regular database backups and ensure backups are completed successfully.
- Regularly test the restore process to ensure backup integrity.
- Troubleshoot backup and recovery issues.
Security & Compliance :
- Ensure database security by implementing best practices, including encryption, auditing, and monitoring.
- Comply with industry standards, internal policies, and legal requirements regarding database security and data privacy.
Patch Management & Updates :
- Regularly apply patches and service packs to SQL Server to keep the environment up to date.
- Ensure that database servers are protected from vulnerabilities through regular maintenance and security updates.
Automation and Scripting :
- Develop and maintain scripts to automate database maintenance tasks such as backups, indexing, and monitoring.
- Write T-SQL scripts to manage data and perform routine tasks.
Monitoring and Troubleshooting :
- Monitor SQL Server performance, including CPU, memory, disk, and network usage.
- Investigate and resolve database performance and operational issues.
- Set up and maintain database alerts and notifications.
Collaboration & Support :
- Provide support to development teams in resolving database-related issues.
- Assist in migrations, upgrades, and consolidations of SQL Server databases.
- Provide 24/7 support on-call for critical database incidents.
