Role Lead & Manager- Underwriting

The Underwriting Manager will lead a team responsible for overseeing the full-cycle underwriting process of proposed financing amounts and terms for small businesses. This role involves collaborating with Relationship Managers to ensure that credit transactions are well-structured, balanced, and minimize risk while meeting the needs of small business owners. The Manager will drive the team's efforts in providing thorough financial analysis, assessing credit quality, and fostering strong internal and external relationships.

Key Responsibilities:

• Leadership and Team Management: Oversee and guide a team of underwriters in structuring, analyzing, and negotiating credit transactions. Ensure smooth workflow and high-quality output from the team.
• Strategic Oversight: Responsible for full-cycle underwriting for assigned small business financing, ensuring creditworthiness evaluations align with company objectives and risk management protocols.
• Financial Analysis: Lead the team in analyzing clients' cash flow statements, tax returns, and financial information. Ensure accurate financial assessments are conducted, including ratio analysis, trend analysis, and projection evaluation.
• Credit Assessment: Provide final oversight on credit analysis and financial statement assessments for co-owners, guarantors, and individuals involved in the financing. Ensure robust analysis of assets for loan amounts requested.
• Collaboration: Work closely with Relationship Managers to ensure smooth communication between teams, including customer calls, site visits, and alignment on client needs.
• Due Diligence and Risk Management: Supervise and ensure that the team conducts due diligence as required to assess creditworthiness and mitigate financial risk.
• Night Shift and Office Presence: Oversee operations during night shifts and ensure office-based work standards are maintained.

Desired Candidate Profile:

• Educational Background: Bachelors/Master's degree in finance, accounting, or a related field.
• Experience: 7-15 years in a commercial credit analysis or underwriting role with small businesses. Formal credit training is highly preferred.
• SME/ MSME Lending.

Skills:

• Strong leadership, team-building, and managerial abilities.
• In-depth knowledge of financial analysis, credit principles, and lending operations.
• Expertise in reading and analyzing financial statements, cash flow, industry trends, and projections.
• Proficiency in Excel, Word, and financial analysis tools such as Moodys.
• Familiarity with due diligence tools such as SOS, Clear report, and TLOx Transunion.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to engage in effective discussions with counterparts, especially in the US & Domestic.
