Job Description
Lead large and complex research projects including primary and secondary research for thematic focus areas which have a measurable impact on the sector at large
Build and execute multi-year plans for long and short term research projects with intent of yielding multi format (video, cases, papers etc.) content which can be effectively delivered across digital and physical platforms
Maintain a high bar on rigor, discipline and credibility in all outputs produced by the team
Develop collaborations with partners in India and abroad to co-produce and disseminate research content
Collaborate with other CSIP leaders to build an accessible and easy to navigate library of marketable knowledge
products and disseminate content via capacity building, convening and other platforms
Lead in a fast evolving, start up like environment and participate in driving organizational development and institution building at CSIP. Start small and iteratively grow while maintaining quality
Support the Centre director in representing the Centre to stakeholders including but not limited to (a) CSIP Donors and Boards (b) Sector players such as intermediaries, Philanthropists, NGOs (c) Ashoka Community (d) Media (e) Government bodies (f) Global institutions focused on the social sector
Represent and showcase CSIP offerings at relevant sector fora as a brand ambassador. Publish curated thought pieces across academic and sector publications in India and abroad
Be responsible for hiring, coaching, mentoring, and supporting team members in developing and meeting their goals
Support a flex talent model by building a small high-powered in-house team supported by agencies, freelance researchers and partners

Qualifications and Skills Required:
Qualifications:
Minimum qualification of a post-graduation degree. PhD preferred At least 10 years of total research and 5 years leadership and management experience primarily in applied
and academic research Prior experience at senior roles in leading research teams at an institutional level
Extensive experience working with large datasets and be able to creatively consider novel sources of data in philanthropy and giving - an area of research with limited availability of data.
Experienced in empirical research, qualitative and quantitative and other effective research methods
Comfortable leveraging research strategies from across sociology, anthropology, academia, market and consumer research to create impactful execution plans
Deep understanding of the development sector and its challenges in India or abroad
Strong communication and interpersonal skills to foster partnerships and effectively engage with stakeholders
Excellent writing skills, ability to publish papers, op-eds, bylines and other artifacts communicating thought leadership
