Role & responsibilities
Summary:
The Commercial and Contracts Head will lead the Contracts department, ensuring effective contract administration and supporting project delivery through strategic planning, vendor management, and value engineering. The ideal candidate will have vast contracting experience, leveraging their expertise to optimize departmental functions and team efficiency.
Education:
Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering with Chartered Accountant (CA) or MBA, with a strong understanding of civil contracting and commercial practices.
Experience:
Extensive contracting experience and strong knowledge of local contactors within Ahmedabad.
Proven track record in tendering, vendor negotiations, and value engineering.
Skills:
Exceptional negotiation and analytical skills.
Proficiency in contract management, procurement, and strategic planning.
Strong leadership and team management abilities.

Key Responsibilities
Contract Administration Management:
Oversee all contract-related activities, ensuring compliance and efficiency.
Collaborate with Project Heads, Architects, Consultants, Accounts & Billing departments, and Contractors for seamless project execution.
Tender Management:
Prepare, float, and manage tenders for various project packages and maintenance activities.
Develop tender documents, including general and special conditions of contracts and BOQs.
Evaluate vendor proposals and conduct techno-commercial discussions.
Vendor and Contractor Management:
Leverage vast local contacts to manage vendor relationships and contractor evaluations.
Lead contractor onboarding, negotiations, and ensure adherence to project requirements.
Finalization and Approval Processes:
Approve tender documents, work orders, variation orders, and contract closures.
Perform rate analysis and ensure organizational policies are met.
Value Engineering and Cost Optimization:
Identify opportunities for cost savings through value engineering and process improvements.
Conduct regular reviews to ensure optimal resource utilization.
Monitoring and Compliance:
Conduct site visits and participate in progress review meetings.
Ensure compliance with technical specifications, schedules, and quality standards.
Strategic Department Management:
Plan and implement strategic initiatives to optimize departmental functions and enhance team efficiency.
Ensure alignment of the departments activities with organizational goals and project timelines.
Stakeholder Engagement:
Participate in pre-bid and post-bid meetings with vendors.
Prepare and present techno-commercial comparisons to senior management.
