Machine Shop Head

Role & responsibilities

Plant Management & Operations:

• Oversee the complete machining operations for automotive castings, ensuring productivity and quality.
• Plan, implement, and optimize production processes, workflow, and machine utilization.
• Drive OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness), cycle time reduction, and cost optimization.
• Ensure adherence to production schedules, minimizing downtime and ensuring on-time delivery.

Technical & Process Leadership:

• Lead CNC/VMC machining, fixture design, and tool selection for cast iron, aluminum, and steel components.
• Ensure compliance with GD&T, IATF 16949, and automotive quality standards.
• Implement and sustain 5S, Lean Manufacturing, and Kaizen initiatives in the machine shop.
• Collaborate with the engineering team to develop process improvements and automation strategies.

Quality & Compliance:

• Ensure zero-defect machining with rigorous process monitoring and CMM-based inspection.
• Maintain compliance with ISO/TS 16949, CQI-9, and other regulatory standards.
• Lead root cause analysis (RCA) and corrective actions for quality deviations and rejections.

Team Leadership & Workforce Management:

• Lead a team of supervisors, machine operators, and quality personnel, ensuring skill development.
• Train and mentor the workforce on best machining practices, safety, and quality control.
• Foster a culture of continuous improvement and accountability.

Preferred candidate profile

Strong expertise in CNC, VMC, HMC machining, tool path optimization, and fixture design. Should have worked at a large machine shop, preferably in the automotive components space.

Strong leadership, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
