Position Summary

The Assistant Professor will be responsible for teaching undergraduate (B.Arch.) and postgraduate (M.Arch.) students as per the Syllabus / curriculum of Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Technical University (AKTU). The role involves academic delivery, mentoring students, conducting research, and contributing to the overall academic and professional growth of the department.

Key Responsibilities:

Teaching and Academic Delivery

• Deliver lectures and practical sessions in core architectural subjects as outlined by the AKTU curriculum for B.Arch. and M.Arch. programs.
• Prepare and implement structured lecture plans, presentations, and teaching materials.
• Conduct sessional tests, assess student performance, and ensure timely submission of grades and attendance records on Moodle and AKTU portals.

Student Mentorship and Guidance

• Mentor students in thesis/research projects and guide them in specialized topics such as advanced structures, sustainability, and design innovation.
• Facilitate site visits, study tours, and hands-on workshops to provide real-world learning experiences.

Curriculum and Knowledge Development

• Teach a wide range of architectural subjects, including Building Construction, Arts and Graphics, Architectural Drawing, Working Drawing, Advanced Services, Ecology, and History.
• Stay updated with AKTU syllabus changes and align teaching strategies accordingly.

Administrative and Institutional Contributions

• Prepare award sheets and maintain accurate academic records as per AKTU requirements.
• Support the smooth functioning of the department and participate in institutional activities as assigned.

Knowledge and Expertise

• Subject Expertise:
• In-depth knowledge of architectural disciplines, including Building Construction, Interior Design, Acoustics, Communication Skills, and Product Design.
• Proficiency in advanced architectural topics, including ecological and sociological aspects of architecture.
• Software Proficiency:
• Competency in tools such as AutoCAD, Photoshop, SketchUp, and Revit.
• Familiarity with GIS and other specialized architectural software is highly desirable.

• Technical Skills:
• Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and digital teaching tools.
• Effective presentation and communication skills.

Qualifications and Experience

• Educational Requirements:
• Essential:
• B.Arch. with First Class and relevant experience, OR
• Bachelors Degree in Architecture and First-Class M.Arch. or equivalent.
• Desirable:
• A Ph.D. in Architecture or a related discipline.
• Experience:
• At least 1 year of teaching experience in an architecture program is recommended.
• Experience in guiding thesis/research students and industry exposure will be an advantage.
