Job Description

As a Support Engineer in our [Operations, Automation and Core Banking - Institutional] you ll play a key role in helping to managing the resolution of application and system issues. In this role, you will prioritize and address support tickets, collaborating closely with cross-functional teams to ensure timely issue resolution. You ll be responsible for tracking and analysing trends in support requests to identify areas for improvement. Additionally, you will document processes and solutions to enhance knowledge sharing within the team. Your contributions will be essential in maintaining system reliability and ensuring a seamless experience for our users.

What will your day look like

As a Support Engineer, you will:

Monitor and manage Tech Connect incidents and requests, ensuring they are resolved, completed, or cancelled in accordance with SLAs.
Stay informed about all critical open issues, actively overseeing their resolution until root causes are identified and remedial actions are implemented.
Track various open application and infrastructure issues, consistently following up with vendors, delivery, and infrastructure teams to ensure permanent resolution of all gaps.
Proactively identify potential issues, assess associated risks, and take appropriate actions to mitigate them.
Regularly check the support mailbox for incoming messages, ensuring timely acknowledgment and resolution of all inquiries as per established SLAs.
Keep stakeholders updated on the status and progress of incident and problem resolution, aligning communication with the severity of incidents and the ANZ Incident and Problem Management process.
Provide weekly reports on service levels achieved, utilizing status reports and other distribution methods as necessary.
Participate in major application releases, including weekend deployments, ensuring smooth transitions and minimal disruption to services.
Collaborate with teams to implement changes and enhancements, ensuring proper testing and validation to maintain system integrity.
Monitor application logs for anomalies and potential issues, addressing vulnerabilities promptly to enhance system security.
Participate in disaster recovery exercises to ensure preparedness and system resilience.
Address user queries effectively, providing clear and timely responses to enhance user experience.

What will you bring

To grow and be successful in this role, you will ideally bring the following:

Must-Have Skills:

Familiarity with ITIL best practices to enhance service management and operational efficiency.

Technical Expertise:

o Strong understanding of application architecture, databases, and web technologies (e.g., Java, .NET, SQL).
o Proficiency in support roles utilizing Splunk, Dynatrace, ITRS, and other monitoring tools for effective troubleshooting and issue resolution.

Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to analyse complex problems, identify root causes, and develop effective solutions. Proactive in identifying potential issues, assessing associated risks, and taking appropriate actions to mitigate them.
Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills for interacting with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Team Collaboration: Experience working in cross-functional teams, fostering collaboration to resolve issues efficiently. Strong ability to quickly gather and synthesize information on ongoing work, communicating updates clearly to key stakeholders.
Attention to Detail: Meticulous in monitoring systems and logs to catch potential issues before they escalate.
Adaptability: Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, handling multiple tasks and shifting priorities as needed.
Customer Service Orientation: Commitment to providing high-quality support and enhancing user experience.

Experience in creating dashboards in Splunk to improve data visualization and reporting capabilities.
Proficient in PowerShell scripting and RDBMS, with familiarity in tools such as OpenShift, containers, and cloud computing.
Strong expertise in supporting applications on the Windows platform, with a solid understanding of various Windows commands, virtual machines, MQ, Kafka, OpenShift, AWS, and SQL databases.
