Job Description
- Review medical records and assign codes to diagnoses and procedures using standard coding systems
- Ensure accuracy and completeness of codes and other data in medical records
- Analyze medical records to identify gaps in documentation and work with physicians and other healthcare providers to obtain additional information as needed
- Identify coding and documentation issues and work with healthcare providers to develop solutions and improve processes
- Monitor coding trends and identify opportunities for process improvement
- Conduct audits of medical records to identify compliance issues and ensure adherence to relevant regulations and standards
- Provide training and education to healthcare providers and staff on coding and documentation best practices
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of coding and billing regulations and standards
