Job Description

1. Review and accurately assign ICD-10-CM codes to home health care services and procedures based on medical record documentation.
2. Ensure compliance with all coding guidelines, regulations, and standards established by government agencies and third-party payers.
3. Analyze medical records to abstract relevant information for coding and billing purposes.
4. Collaborate with healthcare providers and other members of the interdisciplinary team to clarify documentation and ensure accurate code assignment.
5. Maintain productivity and quality standards as set forth by the organization.
6. Stay updated on changes in coding guidelines, regulations, and industry trends through continuous education and training.
7. Participate in coding audits and quality improvement initiatives to ensure coding accuracy and integrity.
8. Adhere to all confidentiality and HIPAA regulations in handling patient information.

*Requirements*:

1. Minimum of 1 year of experience in home health medical coding.
2. BCHH-C certification from the Board of Certified Home Health Coders.
3. Proficiency in ICD-10-CM.
4. Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology.
5. Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in coding and abstracting medical records.
6. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
7. Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
8. Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems and coding software preferred.
9. Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and adhering to ethical standards.
