Senior Engineer

Position Overview

We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Senior Engineer to join our construction team. The Senior Engineer will play a pivotal role in ensuring the technical success of construction projects, overseeing engineering design, quality control, and coordination with various project teams. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in construction engineering, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining the highest standards of safety and quality.

Role & responsibilities

• Engineering Design & Planning: Develop, review, and approve detailed engineering designs, plans, and technical specifications for construction projects. Ensure that designs comply with relevant codes, standards, and regulations.
• Project Coordination: Collaborate with project managers, architects, subcontractors, and other stakeholders to ensure smooth execution of engineering tasks. Provide technical guidance and support to the project team.
• Quality Control: Oversee construction processes to ensure compliance with engineering standards and quality requirements. Conduct inspections and assessments to identify potential issues and ensure quality workmanship.
• Technical Support: Provide expert technical advice and solutions to resolve construction-related challenges. Review and analyze project performance to recommend improvements and adjustments where necessary.
• Budget & Cost Control: Assist in the development of project budgets and provide input on cost-effective engineering solutions. Monitor engineering costs throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring projects are completed within financial constraints.
• Safety Compliance: Ensure that engineering work adheres to health and safety regulations and promotes a safe working environment for all team members. Conduct safety audits and implement safety measures as necessary.
• Progress Monitoring & Reporting: Track project milestones and report on progress to senior management. Ensure that engineering work is completed on schedule and within the projects scope.
• Resource Management: Oversee and allocate engineering resources, including manpower, equipment, and materials. Ensure that all resources are used efficiently and effectively throughout the project.
• Mentorship & Leadership: Lead and mentor junior engineers and technical staff. Provide training and development opportunities to help team members grow in their roles.
• Proficient in establishing contacts, onboarding new tasks, and managing skilled labour resources to ensure efficient work execution.

Preferred candidate profile

• Education: Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, or a related field. A Masters degree is a plus.
• Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in a construction engineering role, with a proven track record of managing engineering aspects of construction projects from conception to completion.

• Skills:

• Strong knowledge of construction methods, techniques, and materials.
• Expertise in engineering software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, Civil 3D, etc.).
• Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and work under pressure.
• Certifications: Professional Engineering (PE) license is preferred but not required.
