Overview:
We are seeking a talented, dedicated, and highly analytical Instock Manager to join our team and drive selection and in-stock performance at Amazon. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in an important initiative aimed at optimizing Amazon's supply chain operations. In this role, you will focus on executing inventory strategies that ensure excellent in-stock rates, optimize customer experience, drive sales, and improve inventory health. Your work will have a direct impact on Amazon's growth and the experience of millions of customers.
The ideal candidate will be someone with proven analytical skills, a strong background in process improvement, and the ability to drive change in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. As an Instock Manager, you will work closely with internal teams across retail, operations, procurement, and more, ensuring the continuous optimization of Amazon's inventory workflows and contributing to Amazon's larger strategic initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain In-Stock Rates: Ensure excellent in-stock rates for the assigned category and/or region by executing inventory strategies that prioritize customer experience and sales.
- Inventory Strategy Execution: Work on optimizing sales, turns, and overall inventory health through effective management of procurement and inventory flows. This includes forecasting, purchasing, and removing unproductive inventory.
- Performance Monitoring: Monitor, analyze, and manage key performance indicators (KPIs) such as in-stock rate, procurement lead time (PLT), fill rate, forecast accuracy, and turns. Provide actionable insights based on these metrics.
- Root Cause Analysis & Improvement: Drive root cause analysis for operational issues impacting inventory health. Develop action plans, report on issues, and manage improvements. Oversee multiple, competing priorities simultaneously.
- Collaboration with Cross-Functional Teams: Partner with internal teams such as retail, operations, and procurement to drive tools and process improvements that affect purchasing workflows and inventory management. Focus on automating manual tasks to streamline operations.
- Product Insights and Selection: Collaborate with product leaders to gather insights, ensuring alignment and making data-driven decisions regarding product selection.
- Market and Competitor Analysis: Analyze market trends and competitor activities to provide data-driven insights that influence strategic decisions related to inventory management.
- Project Management: Coordinate cross-functional efforts to maintain project timelines, streamline communication, and ensure the achievement of program objectives.
Basic Qualifications:
- Experience: 4+ years of experience in supply chain, inventory management, or project management.
- Technical Skills: 3+ years of experience with Excel, including the ability to analyze complex data, create reports, and provide actionable insights.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, Operations, or a related field, or 3+ years of professional or military experience in a relevant role.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Statistical Inventory Control: Experience with the principles of statistical inventory control to ensure optimal inventory management.
- Process Improvement Techniques: Experience with process improvement methodologies such as Kaizen, Lean Manufacturing, or Six Sigma to improve operational workflows and increase efficiency.
- Data-Driven Decision Making: Strong analytical abilities and experience using data to make strategic decisions and optimize inventory management.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Proven ability to work collaboratively across teams, with excellent communication skills to align diverse stakeholders on common goals.
