Deputy Head of Hostel

Role & responsibilities

• Oversee the holistic development of students, including pastoral care, discipline, and well-being, ensuring a safe and nurturing environment.
• Assist the Head of Hostel in supervising academic, administrative, and financial operations, ensuring efficient functioning.
• Coordinate with Dorm parents to ensure completion of hostel's objectives and provide quality care and education.
• Actively engage in and support curricular, co-curricular, and extracurricular activities, including academic coaching and mentoring.
• Maintain student discipline within the hostel and ensure a conducive atmosphere for learning and personal development.
• Support Head of Hostel in developing and implementing systems that would ensure punctuality and regularity of students, mentors, tutors, administrative staff and volunteers.
• Liaise with parents and other stakeholders to keep them informed about hostel activities, achievements, and students' progress.
• Assist in planning and organizing staff development programs, ensuring that staff are well-trained and up to date with residential life trends.
• Support and assist the Administrative-Incharge to ensure that the hostel premises and facilities are well-maintained, clean, and safe for students and staff.
• Assist in managing and enhancing the hostels residential curriculum, ensuring the program addresses the intellectual, physical, social, emotional, and spiritual development of the students.
• Support Head of Hostel to maintain and update alumni database and active communication with the Alumni
• Support the Head of Hostel in creating and executing a hostel development plan that continuously improves various aspects of hostel life.
• Collaborate with the Head of Hostel to plan, implement, and monitor long-term strategies, including hostel programming, budgeting, and resource management.
• Ensure robust safeguarding protocols and promote a holistic approach to student well-being, addressing physical and mental health aspects.
• Collect and analyze data to make informed decisions regarding the improvement and effectiveness of residential life initiatives and student programming.
• Provide ongoing guidance to the team on various aspects of hostel life, including operations and curriculum implementation. Ensure staff members are well-equipped to execute their roles effectively.
• Establish appropriate mechanisms to support the wellbeing of students so that they genuinely feel cared for. Promote a holistic approach to wellbeing, addressing both physical and mental health aspects.
• Assist in developing and implementing communication plans to ensure meeting the enrolment targets for hostel and ensure a proper report on each student

qualification : Masters Degree or equivalent will be preferred in social work, education, child development or similar areas
