Operations and Facilities Manager

Role & responsibilities

• Oversee the day-to-day operations of the facility.
• Ensure the building is clean, safe, and operational.
• Coordinate building repairs, maintenance, and upgrades.
• Manage routine and emergency maintenance tasks for equipment and systems (HVAC, plumbing, electrical, etc.).
• Schedule preventive maintenance and inspections.
• Ensure the facility complies with local regulations, health, and safety codes.
• Conduct regular safety inspections, fire drills, and emergency preparedness plans.
• Maintain fire safety equipment and other safety systems.
• Manage relationships with external service providers (cleaning, security, landscaping, etc.).
• Negotiate contracts and monitor vendor performance.
• Develop and manage the facilitys operating budget.
• Track and report on facility-related expenses, finding ways to improve cost efficiency.
• Manage space allocation and use within the facility.
• Ensure efficient use of space and accommodate any new or changing needs.
• Implement sustainability practices to reduce energy consumption and lower costs.
• Monitor building systems to ensure optimal performance and efficiency.
• Lead and supervise a team of maintenance staff and other facility personnel.
• Provide training and development opportunities for staff.
• Respond to emergencies (e.g., power outages, flooding, security issues) in a timely and effective manner.

Preferred candidate profile

• Strong knowledge of building systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, etc.).
• Experience in project management and budgeting.
• Ability to manage vendors and negotiate contracts.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills.
• Problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
• Familiarity with local building codes and regulations.
• Knowledge in facility management software.
