Safety Management System:
Develop and execute comprehensive Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems (OHSMS) programs.
Prepare annual safety plans and procedures, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and industry standards.
Develop and maintain a safety training calendar for both Adani and contract employees, ensuring timely completion of safety training programs.
Conduct employee training sessions to disseminate safety protocols and implement best practices in various safety domains such as life safety, chemical safety, hazardous materials management, etc.
Monitor program effectiveness and make necessary adjustments to improve safety outcomes.
Conduct and oversee budget planning and allocation for all safety-related initiatives to ensure adequate resources are available for maintaining and enhancing workplace safety.
IMS Implementation:
Lead the implementation of Integrated Management Systems (IMS) standards including ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001.
Plan and conduct internal audits, ensuring compliance with IMS requirements and addressing non-conformities promptly.
Coordinate external periodic/recertification safety risk audits in collaboration with certification agencies.
Safety Initiatives and Committee Meetings:
Spearhead the implementation of new safety initiatives aimed at enhancing safety effectiveness at the site, such as Gensuite and Behavior-Based Safety programs.
Implement and oversee comprehensive safety protocols to mitigate heavy vehicle risks within the iron ore mining operation, ensuring the safety of personnel and minimizing the potential for accidents or incidents
Organize and facilitate site/department level safety committee meetings to address safety gaps and implement corrective actions.
Monitor and ensure the timely closure of observations and recommendations from safety committee meetings.
Review safety reports and send it to HOD for monitoring safety controls by conducting weekly review meetings with cluster head.
Lead the coordination and organization of events with local communities and schools aimed at promoting safety awareness and education.
Contractor Safety Management:
Develop and implement a robust contractor safety management system in accordance with Group SOPs.
Conduct safety meetings and toolbox talks with contractor safety officers and supervisors.
Oversee the training of contract workmen through safety induction programs and periodic training sessions.
Evaluate the performance of vendors and contractors to ensure adherence to safety standards.
Liasion with safety taskforce to ensure standard for contract safety on timely basis.
Incident Investigation and Emergency Response:
Direct and oversee the investigation, reporting, and analysis of accidents and major incidents to prevent recurrence.
Collaborate with department heads to review major incidents and implement appropriate corrective and preventive actions.
Function effectively as a coordinator of the emergency response team, ensuring readiness to handle emergencies effectively.
Statutory Compliance and Mock Drills:
Ensure compliance with state and central statutory requirements as well as industry standards pertaining to occupational health and safety.
Organize and conduct mock drills for emergency preparedness in communication with HOD Cluster head.
Review drill exercises, identify gaps, and implement necessary improvements for efficient safety control.
Coordinate with TCD team to maintain safety inventory such as helmets, belt, safety glasses, gloves, safety shoes, earplugs, and respirators, etc.
