Summary:As an Operations Engineer, you will support the operations and/or manage delivery for production systems and services based on operational requirements and service agreement. Your typical day will involve ensuring the smooth functioning of production systems and services, addressing operational issues, and adhering to service agreements.
Roles & Responsibilities:

Plan and implement medium to high risk changes on high profile production Sybase

Analyze and assess the impact and risk of low to medium risk changes on high profile production databases.

Resolve difficult/complex incidents affecting the operation/availability of high profile production databases.

Create and review technical system recovery plans

Help to identify and plan RCA implementation.

Make pro-active suggestions for service improvements.

Knowledge on cross DB platforms like Oracle, MySQL.

Prepare Runbooks as needed and review all SOPs.

Automate the manual tasks and recurring incidents.
Professional & Technical Skills:

5-7 years of strong database administration experience on Distributed Platforms.

Setup, Configuration, Support of Sybase v15.7 and above.

Proficient in ASE server, Backup server, Replication server installation and configuration.

Must have experience to support large size, high volume, and critical Sybase environments.

implementing and configuring DR soultions.

Ability to detect and troubleshoot resource contention issues like CPU, memory, I/O, disk space and other related issues.

Explain and tune SQL queires.

Ready to work for On-call requirements whenever there is operational needs or issues in operation.

Good experience with backups, restores and recovery models.

Good experience of HA for Sybase.

Critical thinking and problem solving skills.

Good time-management skills, Great interpersonal and communications skills.

Good bash scripting skills to automate tasks.

Ability to operate independently and make decisions with little direct supervision

Bachelor's degree

ITIL V3/V4 Foundation certified

Preferred to have MCSA certification.

Preferred to have knowledge/certification on any Cloud Technologies.
